Footballers should realise that..

They have to realise that they produce so much love and hatred within fans.

The incident tonight at White Hart Lane should hopefully make then realise that they can no longer act like big spoilt kids, superior to everyone and above them.

They have to learn to accept defeat and victories with the same grace.

they need to gain some intelligence first and realise what it actually means to be a sportsmen, to be icons for kids (and adults) and to be thankful for what they have.

it doesn't just apply to sportsmen, it apllies to almost anybody in the public eye.

so many of these so called "stars" think they can do whatever the f*** they want and get away with it. right now, they do.

some of the crap you see in the press over here is disgusting and is probably worse than what you see in the UK.

trouble is , nobody in authority has the balls to do anything about it.

Lewis Hamilton is a case in point. The guy was making Alonso look old and tired for parts of the race and when he gets interviewed after he's as humble and self-effacing as you can get.

Woods, Federer and Michael Jordan are the same - absolute leagues ahead in their sports, but can still spell humility. Football seems to breed over-confident w*****s though. I can take arrogance from sportsmen - most of them need that kind of self-belief, but the attitude displayed by players like Lampard, Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo makes me want to puke.

Barnes didn't need to do twelve step-overs everytime he got the ball for people to know how good he was. Keegan didn't need to chase referees and swear until blue in the face to prove his value as a striker. Even that c*** Cantona's peacock dance was backed up with ability and a lack of showing off for the sake of showing off.

Here's a list of humble footballers:

Beardsley

Dalglish

Rush

Aldridge

Nicol

Houghton

Beglin

Wark

Kuyt

Reina

Finnan

Carra

Agger

Sami

Alonso

Crouch

I could go on and on, but I think the point is made. There's a difference between players who take the piss with their skill - Barnes, McManaman, Hagi, Ronaldinho, etc - and those who are c**** while they're doing it - Ronaldo, Diouf, etc.

There are just as many c**** in other sports, we just see more in football cause it's the one we watch the most.

LOL, I'm sure there are a few that never played for Liverpool as well.

Here's a controversial statement: Most footballers are normal, there are a load of idiots who give the rest of them a bad name though.

I think the problem is a lot of the biggest names who play for England are part of the latter group.

agree with that, the threat of going on a strike for rio (which some of our players were unfortunately a part of) comes to mind
