Why are we looking at 60000 capacity to last us, what 50/60 years ?,when manc scum already at 76000?

Can we build on this capacity - will the stadium design allow this in the future ?

And why not build near Aintree - the station , local roads etc have been modernised in recent years - already done job - we would have good rail and road (m62.m57. m58. m6) links. Even the blue noses have realised the value of that location - many geenfield sites out that way.

Let's face it we never thought the kop could or would be all seater - we have accepted that change - we can do it again.

Are we being shortsighted here? Are the yanks aware? Are we accepting 2nd tier club status (barca capacity = 100000).

Apart from anything else, the capacity is actually going to be 61,000 not 60,000

I think I read that about 1,000 of those seats will be lost through segregation etc, so the actual capacity will be 60,000

Just to add even more sillyness to the numbers - I've also heard that this was a a 'typo' in effect and the actual number is 61,200.

hey - we'll find out in a couple of years...:D

It's probably too late to change now, with the planning permission all sorted. However, I also think that it is hardly worth knocking down a perfectly good stadium and building a new one, just to achieve 15,000 more bums on seats. It seems unambitious.

Aintree would have been a good location, but I would have gone for Speke. The road links are superb, a main railway line goes right through the area, and the Airport is nearby for our Irish and Norwegian colleagues. There is also plenty of "brownfield" land available in Speke so that we would have been able to expand and improve the stadium at will, whereas I think any such proposals in Stanley Park will cause a furore.

The fact that I live on the South side is not of course influencing my opinion. ;)

Go and support South Liverpool then ;) Ooops, sorry, I forgot they've gone!

Why not build in Warrington? My uncle will sell us his land opposite Ikea and then we could even change our name to Warrington Dons! We could even start with a clean slate, i mean all those league titles and European Cup wins have been nothing but a burden over the last decade or so - it will take the pressure of the lads and give the fans somethign to be excited about when we maybe get a chance of winning our first ever league cup.

I think the actual capacity has gone up to 62,000 with the changes to the Kop, the actual working capacity will 66 thousand and something though

the capacity actually just keeps going up and up ,it did start off at 55 thousand then it as 60,000 and now it seems we could sneak a few thousand more in and only tell the council when its built ...what would they do anyway ,tell us to tear it all down?

exactly - why not just dig the foundations another 200 feet deeper and put a tier below ground level like the Stade de France - those cn*ts will be none the wiser and we can have a 90,000 stadium :woohoo:

They are livid on RAWK about the new ground today. Reckon the plans on display at the Vernon Sangster don't show the 'Kop' end as being different to the other end or big enough. There is disputes about it from various parties however.

There's a healthy debate on RTK too. Some are claiming they have had assurances from both the architect and from Rick Parry that the Kop end will be unique and the other 3 stands will have 2 tiers and executive boxes.

On the other hand, a quick look at the plans seem to show nothing of the sort...norwegian liverpool site, stadium plan pictures

the council wont let us build to 80,000 ( they're all Everton supporters )

joking aside that stadium, and the smaller but similarly built Parc des Princes, both have brilliant acoustics and atmosphere.
