Frosty Jack Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 From the way they're talking, does that mean the one similar to the Reebok stadium design isn't going to be built afterall? would take a long time to draw up new designs wouldn't it?
honourablegeorge Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 They said they'd start building within 60 days, so if they're changing it, they'll need f***in' rocket-powered architects.

Cobs Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 they start digging a hole in 60 days, be a while before anything resembling a stadium emerges

I'm loving all the American jokes. Do we Americans on the board get upgraded to Owners now
DanielS Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 they start digging a hole in 60 days, be a while before anything resembling a stadium emerges If they're going to change the design in any significant way they have to get it re-approved and they will have to adjust any civil plans they had..
Cobs Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 If they're going to change the design in any significant way they have to get it re-approved and they will have to adjust any civil plans they had..i bet £5 it has a Kop
McBain Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 The original designs are already about 5 or 6 years old. by the time they're built they'll be about 9 years old If it's at all possible i'd hope they alter them. Even 5 years ago I didn't like the plans much
Guest PaulMcC Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I thought the design wasn't finalised. Only how tall and wide the structure could actually be.
honourablegeorge Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Exterior is more or less finalised, interior is limited by safety regs, but I think they can change it within that framework, sort of thing. I'd say they'd be minimal enough changes, to be honest.
Roscoe Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I thought Hicks mumbled something about using his experience to improve the plans within the confines of what was already agreed...
DanielS Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 (edited) I thought Hicks mumbled something about using his experience to improve the plans within the confines of what was already agreed... Which means we'll have the same overall design that was approved originally, but Hicks will make sure all the seats have a vibrate function and a coolbox in the arm rests - like proper 'muricans have. So that there is ample leg and belly room for all the stadium will be reduced to a 5000 recliner capacity. Edited February 6, 2007 by DanielS

I think the main thing is that wherever you are in the stadium, but especially in the pitch side recliners, you should be able to watch the game unfold on a giant TV.
Frosty Jack Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 So that there is ample leg and belly room for all the stadium will be reduced to a 5000 recliner capacity.something along the lines of this?
fyds Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I thought Hicks mumbled something about using his experience to improve the plans within the confines of what was already agreed...Yes - we've covered this before - as long as they stick to the agreed capacity, footprint, H&S regs etc, height and other restrictions, they can reassess the internal layout and most 'non-structural essential' aspects of the design. There's a fair bit of leeway in that.

Even 5 years ago I didn't like the plans much the designs aren't that old at all.the 61,000 seater design is about a year old and its constantly re evaluated. i know the council wanted to add more bogs to it only recently.

We must now call seats 'bleachers'and the bench the 'bull pen'

Is it an overhual of what was originally announced or just some tweaking? Haven't seen anything released by the club that talks of major changes
