I'm sure it may have been mentioned before, but just how crap is the mancs current kit????

It looks like something your mad Auntie might have bought from the side of a road in Thailand. I've seen horrible polyester kits for sale on tat stalls in Oxford Street that looked better.

Vile.

It'd be alright but for the AIC logo. Who the f*** are AIC anyway?

[edit] Accounting fraud claims

In 2005 AIG came under investigation for accounting fraud.

[edit] Timeline

On October 14, 2004 the New York State Office of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer announced that it had commenced a civil action against Marsh & McLennan Companies for steering clients to preferred insurers with whom the Company maintained lucrative payoff agreements, and for soliciting rigged bids for insurance contracts from the insurers. The Attorney General announced in a release that two AIG executives pleaded guilty to criminal charges in connection with this illegal course of conduct.

In early May 2005, AIG restates financial statements, and issues a reduction in book value of USD $2.7 billion, a 3.3 percent reduction in net worth. AIG's share price falls due to conservative investors selling shares.

On February 9, 2006, AIG and the New York State Attorney General's office agreed to a settlement in which AIG would pay a fine of $1.6 billion.

I quite like the kit. I did not at first but its grown on me. I have two.

As for the AIG, I suppose it could be worse. Good chance you lot will walk around looking like DIC`s next season.

I don't think our owners will feel the need to sponsor us too.

Think they might feel like maximising income, in the way that a good business does. :)

Nope, the red and the white ones. BTW you do realise that we cannot stand your kit no matter what form it takes on, and you really have had some awful green and yellow ones havnt you?

Crown did not sit too well on your old shirts.

Its all down to who you support and who you cannot stand.

we've had some shockers too, no doubt - dark green with the navy shorts in about 97/98 was the worst for me.

anyway - it's not that i can't stand Utd's blue kit cos it's Utd - i just think it's a rubbish kit, unlike say, the all black one you had.

I have that one. Love it.

Worst one I have was the blue and black one from about 99. The material is awfull. Gets covered in fluff and sticks to your body. Never touch anything metal when you have just pulled the bloody top off. Hurts like hell. My ex missus bought it for me god bless her. Paid £69 from a mail order firm. Has the number seven in it and Beckham.

First night I wore it I was smoking a roll-up and a bit of red hot ash dropped off. It was like my world went into slow motion. I watched this ember floating down and did my Teenage mutant Ninja impersonation as I tried frantically to swat it away. But to no avail. It hit the shirt with the impact of a speeding comet. Well you would have thought it had. It burnt right through. The hole was 3 times bigger than the ember that landed on it. My ex (Who was a scouser) belted me.

our worst has to be the one from about 1990 that looks like a sparrow had stood in white paint and run all over the shirt. Truly awful kit.

There's a one-story hardware shop at a really busy Y-junction in Fairview in Dublin that used to have a MASSIVE Crown Paints logo painted on the roof that you could see all the way up the road. It was class when they were sponsoring us.

Yea, and watching you play was like watching the sign dry.

Going back to the AIG sponsorship of Manure ........ AIG is a massive global insurance operation, one of the world's largest companies, but few people have heard of them. This is presumably why AIG decided to get some profile by sponsoring the wonderful Man U Brand.

However, I think this is possibly a naive move by AIG. Their crappy TV ad finishes with a tacked-on piece showing video clips of Man U players and a commentary to the effect that AIG are proud to be sponsors of Manchester United. Nationally, far more of the population loathe and despise the Mancs than like them. I would personally not buy insurance from AIG, the same as I never signed up to Vodafone when their name was on the hated shirts. Surely there must be literally millions of bigots like me and the ad must lose AIG more public goodwill than it wins?

PS - the worst strip in the Premiership must be the Spurs away kit - pale blue with a big red "M" for Mansion. Yuk!
