Reminded me of Owen four or five years ago

Very quick, always on the last defender, always harrying their defence and brilliant finishing

We havent had a destructive striker who can do that sort of thing to a team since Owen left.

Very, very encouraged. I was already thinking about us having to buy a new striker next season, but to be fair to the lad that was only his fourth start

Brilliant he was

I thought Bellamy was fantastic his last few seasons, Saturday was the same, but in a rd shirt. Great to watch.

Hopefully he can put all that rubbish behind him and get his head down. Pace up front made a huge difference to us.

The team may have to learn how to play with this type of player again, as you said Owen was the last of this type that we had. Cisse had the pace but not the movement or awareness, but in Stevie and Alonso we have 2 of the best midfielders to take advantage of Bellamys pace off the shoulder of the last defender.

His finishing was so full of confidence on the weekend and hes proved in the past once hes playing with confidence hes a very dangerous player and he wont have played with better players than he is now.

To be fair, and without playing down Bellamy's excellent performance, he was up against a 35 year old centre half who wasn't even quick in his younger years, and also Wigan's defence were playing very high up the pitch.

Missed them, what did he say?

He was asked about not getting a hat-trick, and he admitted the thought had been on his mind. He was then asked, if he wanted a third, why he had passed to Kuyt.

He pointed out Kuyt was in a better position to score, adding that he'd have been crucified if he'd missed. He then went on to say that he knew if he'd gone for it and missed, and Wigan had got it back to 2-2, he'd never have heard the end of it from Rafa :D

Speaking of Cisse I heard that he played an hour in a friendly on Tuesday and is expected to play this Saturday if the doc gives him the all clear..
