F*ck me that turn and feathered pass into Stevie's path for the first goal was good wasn't it?

It was what I'd describe as absolutely 'World Class' forward link play, and what makes it better was it was against a very strong defensive side - Alex in particular looked very impressive.

Although we were quite in control and looked most likely, the game was very tight up until then and although Reina and Finnan's good passes got the ball into the final third, that moment of brilliance changed the game.

It was as good as anything I've seen from a Liverpool striker in a long time.

Up until the 2 assists, I thought Kuyt was very poor last night. He kept giving the ball away very easily and was no threat at all. But i'll take quiet periods if he can pop up with a pass like that.

agreed he was poor last night, but to play badly and still get two assists shows the player he is

Absolutely - I actually said early during the second half that he looked a bit tired and maybe needed a rest on Saturday. However he completely threw that theory out of the window in the last 25 minutes, during which he was absolutely fantastic.

There was that bit of sublime link play for the first goal, but also the assist for Crouch and numerous other moments of superb skill where he brought others into the game, such as when he took down a long free-kick in the box and laid it off to Garcia who fired wide.

He really is a pleasure to watch.

I love the lad despite some peoples (unbelievable in my opinion) negative views of him - I think that he could become one of the very best Liverpool players ever

I think he's got everything - vision, commitment, strength, pace when he needs it and a great shot

He just works so hard and looks so solid - if the team were firing on all cylinders around him I could see him bagging an absolute hatful each season

Very very glad we signed him - just love watching him play

Two good assists from Dirk. Wasn't one of his best games but he had one moment of class for Gerrard's goal and showed a good bit of composure to head across to Crouch for the second.

Isn't their goalie also part owned by Chelsea aswell?

The thing with Kuyt is that when he does lose the ball, you can gurantee he will chase the person who took it back to his our net if need be.

At a guess, I'd say Stadler and Waldorf.

Or some other muppets.

I thought he was well below par before that happened. Then he does that, chests it down brilliantly for Garcia(?) to shoot two minutes later and sets up a goal for crouch later.

Below his usual standards overall, but hell, I'll take it for a match-turning moment of brilliance.

I think last night's performance from Kuyt was a combination of things

1. He was trying too hard against a team from the country he represents

2. He maybe knackered ( and slightly injured - he got a knock playing for Holland, didn't he?)

3. He and Crouch occasionally made a similar run/ didn't link up too well/ took the same position.

I'm still not convinced Kuyt/Crouch is the solution up front against teams that pack the defence. Although its early days yet. And Rafa knows more about football than I do :D

That, and the fact he'd never played in the CL before he came to us.

I think he's desperate for a CL goal myself, you could tell that from the last game -v- Bordeaux.
