Something that REALLY s***ted me on Saturday

Was when Gerrard told Gonzalez to keep the ball in the corner at 2-0 ???

WTF is that? to keep a clean sheet at 92 minutes?

I remember us doing it a few time last year at 2-0 and 3-0.

I find it embarrassing that Coppel could make a joke of it at the end of the match "I suppose you could call it a sort of hollow victory for us to see them keeping the ball in the corner like that."

P.S i am not blaming Stevie, just pointing out the moment.

bloody hell some people are never happy. So what? Squeeze the life out of the game. we are well behind and we have to be ruthlessy efficient and not give other teams a sniff, especially as we are trying to rebuild dented confidence.

crap topic

Nevermind that, why were we keeping the ball in the corner last season 5-0 up against Fulham?

Beat me to it. ALthough it was 5-1.

Clean sheets are important.

Clean sheets are important.

It was only our third clean sheet of the season in the league and it was good to get clean sheets in succesive league games. The thing is though, we're hopeless at holding the ball up in the corner. Its only Pongolle and Kewell that can do it.

Stupid thing to moan about, after we've won 2-0 though FFS.

Remember a few times last season when we were comfortably winning and we take stupid short corners and hold up the ball which most times resulted in us givin away a free kick as a result ;-/

If we're 'scared' of conceeding so late on we should protect our lead by just knocking the ball about in defence and midfield for the last couple of minutes. Maybe the players aren't confident in doing so.

didnt rafa go of it at Gerrard once for running forward near the end of one game trying to get another goal instead of saving his energy for the next game.

might have done

completely irrelevant to that subject here

the players were already up for the corner, it was a pointless bit of pissing about which handed possession straight to the opposition anyway and made us look like we were scared of closing out a 2-0 lead against Reading.

If in doubt put only 3 men in the box and leave 6 back but take the feckin corner properly ffs!!!!

It's not though is it.

It's a s*** thing to do, we did it alot last season as well when we had big leads and the teams had no chance of coming back. It has no purpose but to rile the crowd as it did again on Saturday.

Taking the corner properly is a whole different argument, try and take a decent corner would be more accurate. What these short corners and 1 - 2's do I don't know.

If we'd conceded 2 in 2 minutes at the end you would be moaning that we hadn't kept it in the corner though.

We didn't keep it in the corner

though I must admit that the freekick that Rennie gave against Gonzales that allowed them to bring it back up the pitch was absolutely absurd - it was right below us.

Rubbish decision

short corners are all well and good if it allows for a cross from a different angle or if it allows a shot from the attacking team.

fannying about with your foot on the ball to waste time is pathetic when you're 2-0 up

Does my nut (i've seen rafa lose it with the players about it too) when we waste a free opportunity to get a ball played into the box for our players to attack.

I thought it was awful.

Indicated the psychology of the team, worried about losing rather than being hungry to win.

esp when you see some of the shepherding the ball that goes on. The rules state that the ball has to be within playing distance. As Gonzalez had his foot on it, I imagine it was
