Gerrard: Criticism of boss makes me sick - and why I'll play anywhere

Well in, SG.

Just read the strapline on SSN where Rafa said "We know Stevie is happier to play centrally, but I can't play Alonso or Sissoko on the week. Steven can play anywhere".

Was a bit worried reading those, but it was nice to see Stevie speak, as it's already been said in this thread, like a captain.

It is a shame he has to come out and say stuff like this, I think he has proved himself and needs to answer to no one except Rafa.

Well said StevieG. Now lets go out and stuff the barcodes tonight! Yeah! :P

When some were saying Gerrard shouldn't have played on the left in that Sissoko thread, without wishing to blow my own trumpet this backs up exactly what I was saying yesterday...

'I think Rafa played Gerrard on the left against Chelsea for two main reasons.

Firstly, so he could run directly at Boulharouz. The Dutchman isn't the quickest anyway, and hasn't yet adapted to the pace of the Premier League. If Stevie would have shown a bit more composure that move would have paid off superbly when he beat his man easily but then tried to bend it in the top corner when the pull back across goal was the better option. Cole wouldn't have been as easily beaten.

Again, when he got to the ball first ahead of Bouharouz in the second half if he'd have shown more composure and brought the ball under control instead of taking it at a difficult height and shooting straight at Cech, that decision could have come off. I don't rate Boulharouz at all, he's a donkey.'

that'd be impressive if you hadn't lifted it from Tony Cascarino

Funnily enough I read Cascarino's comments via a link on another site about 10 minutes after I'd posted that. I thought someone would accuse me of plagery!

Curse you Cobs, you and those pesky no-good kids (shakes fist angrily).

Gerrard playing on the left did not work conclusively enough for it to be justified.

We bought left sided players in the summer and yet the last two matches we've used Garcia and Gerrard.

Couldn't give a flying f*** if Gonzo was injured.

I'm on one.
