esp when he pings the ball 40 yeard back into our half to set a chance up for them...!

The litle f***** doesnt hide does he.....he was unlucky not to score two or three...he could have done better with one of the chances, but he was unlucky with the others, and the keeper did really well...

But even when he faded out of the game second half, his work rates was fantastic...i noticed at one point after we had scored him chaising the ball into the corner harrassing the full back and winning a throw in...to be fair Gonzalez did the same also...

just thought he deserves a mention seeing as he has hardly played

I agree. Thought he played well last night. Was very unlucky not to score, particularly with the header. He'll always get games no matter who we bring in.

If it wasnt for their goalie playing the game of his life Luis could have bagged 3 goals, he looked sharp and dangerous last night which was great to see - top man!

He's a battler. I'd just lke him to tone down a touch on the flicks. He lost possession criminally yesterday, especially when we were under pressure.

Frustrating as owt but very glad Rafa bought him.

I thought last night was a reverse of his normal European games. He was good to begin with, then frustrating as f***. He's normally frustrating at first then pops up with a bit of class.

Last nite was prime Luis!

Sublime in some patches, unbelievably frustrating in others.

Some stages of the second half last nite he was so wasteful. He also has a problem with decision making as well. So often he chooses the wrong one.

I was glad me dad was in italy and didnt see the game, he would have had a cardiac had he have seen it when he played the ball 30 yards to the them

That may well be as much to do with a lack of match familiarity with the back four last night...that sort of ball would normally be picked up by Carra or Riise and brought forward.

I think, with respect, that's b******s. Was a rubbish pass. Head down, get rid of it.

No matter who was playing, it would help if it went somewhere close too a red shirt!

Still love him tho! :D

My only real problem is his choices, as a pro he should know that when you're under pressure and needing to keep the ball then simple is the best way to play. I'd have taken him off after an hour yesterday and put Bellamy on to give them something else to think about.

His work rate is spot but he does have a tendency to foul the attacking player when he's tracking back - in fairness can't remember him giving a dangerous free kick away last night

He did work hard and never hid, plus points for him and he could have scored a couple as well.

Should really be shot for his inability to hold onto the ball all night, and his playing of passes without looking and subsequently giving them the ball in our half could be a real problem against better teams.

We work hard to get the ball and 9 times out of ten he gives it back to them within a couple of seconds.

He's been a match-winner for us in big games but if I was playing with him I'd have had a word by now about it.

He also seems abit of a hard b*****d too. He usually backs other players up when he is on the pitch and they are having a bit of bother and throws himself into many 50/50's, etc, last night he was bundling into two defenders with everyone flying all over the place. Not the sort of thing you would expect from a small flaire player from Europe.

I dont think he was as frustrating last night as he often is mainly because he played a lot further up the field (till the last 10 minutes and when he gave the ball away to set up a chance) basically as a 2nd striker rather than drifting all over the field.

Posted

Is he the only one in the team that can play that 2nd striker role (between midfield and attack) or does he need some competition like Malbranque or BenAyauon?

Excluding Gerrard as I don't think it suits him.

Pennant? Dont think we'll be seeing much of him there. Kewell, Garcia and at a push Gerrard and Speedy.

Maybe not, but he sees a pass, has a good football brain, and has the skill set. I think he could do very well there

Luis Garcia is one of those players that always seems involved and is always lively and very dangerous and yet can be as frustrating as feck. When he gets chances he can't seem to put them away. Yet in other games he will pounce on a half chance and score a cracker.

Go Figure.
