Agger or Paletta

I haven't seen this anywhere yet.

 

Rafa in the past has said that Paletta is more like Carragher and Agger more like Hyypia.

 

if we play Agger it means Hyypia moves across to the right side, something he is quiet capable of doing and Agger does have more first team experience then Paletta. On the other hand Hyypia and Agger are fairly similar and we could miss a blocker/tackler. it's a difficult choice, but it's a testemant to the squad that rafa has put together that if we had had these injuries last year we would have had a back four of finnan(or Josemi if he's still unfit)---Hyypia, Traore and Warnock, which frightens me to death, with no real options on the bench either.

 

My own personal choice would be Paletta as I see Hyypia and Agger to be too similar, but I wouldn't argue with either to be honest.

Agger has far more experience than Paletta so for that reason alone I reckon it'll be Agger. Agger has very good ball skills as well.

Don't think Rafa considers Paletta as being ready yet. I'm pretty much certain it'll be Agger alongside Hyypia.

 

Incidentally I don't agree Hyypia and Agger are similar players at all.

RAFA: PALETTA CAN BE ANOTHER CARRA

Rafael Benitez has insisted new signing Gabriel Paletta has the qualities to match the inspirational leadership of Jamie Carragher when he arrives at Anfield.

The young Argentinian defender will join the Reds in the summer after Liverpool agreed a four year deal for his services.

 

Benitez is delighted to have beaten off stiff competition to land the highly rated youngster and is confident he'll waste no time in proving himself on Merseyside.

 

He said: "I've worked with other Argentinian defenders in the past and there is a good tradition of tough, aggressive and tactically strong defenders from the country.

 

"Paletta is very tough and he's exactly the sort of player we need who will suit the Premiership. When you talk about the Argentinian defenders I worked with in Valencia, Paletta is more like Ayala than Pellegrino. If you're talking about Liverpool, he's more like Carra than Sami Hyypia. This is good because we will have a balance in the style of defenders.

"We were watching him in the world under-21 championships in Holland recently. That's when our scouts spotted him and we identified him as the kind of player we'd like.

Agger is more experienced than Paletta, so based on that he should play. Paletta looks to be a very good player, but his inexperience showed with a few errors pre-season. That's not to say he won't come good (I'm sure he will), but Agger is ready now.

...all of which could explain the rumoured interest in Lucas Neill. He could cover Sammi, Carra and Agger as well as giving Palletta the time to bed in or be sent out on loan. He'd also provide cover for Finnan allowing us to flog Krompkamp for a tidy little profit.

 

And as he's free, so we would make another bit of profit once we sell him on in a year or two!
