Is it time for Live televised games at 3pm on a Saturday?

Looking at the fixtures you will notice that we play 8 games until we have a 3pm kick off, even then nothing is guaranteed as Sky can and do change things as they wish. Little thought goes to the travelling fans who just cannot make very early or late kick off's.

I think it could be time to consider selling TV season tickets to fans. With the availability of digital satellite it is now possible to sell individual team live games to fans for a season. You could be watching your team play at 3pm on a Saturday from the comfort of your chair.

 

There are arguements against this, they (whoever they are) claim that crowds would drop. I'm not so sure. We sell out for all of our Premiership games as it is, away tickets are scarce and we never get enough. Thousands upon thousands of fans flock to pubs to watch the continental channels showing our games LIVE. So even if numbers dropped I am sure there would be more than enough people willing to take their tickets from them.

 

With just a dish, the right receiver and a channel card bought on the internet you too could be watching LIVE games on your own television each week. Why should that cash be going abroad and out of the game, when with the right deal the money could be going back into football to help some of the less well off clubs or to improve the game.

 

With this in mind the arguement against is mute, it is high time fans were given the chance to buy their teams games LIVE on SKY.

It isn't our crowds, it's lower division crowds that the rule is in place for I believe.

i think havign the saturday games available to everyone live would be overkill myself

 

sure most pubs have foreign stations with the matchs on anyway

Are they really up and down the country? I have never found a Liverpool game on at 3pm on Saturday outside of Liverpool.

 

Personally I think they should make all Premiership games be played on Saturday or Sunday and all football league games on the other which would give the 3pm kick off time more of a chance.

I really wish they would, i have no pub near me showing the games and have no intention of going to lower league games. I just end up spending my money on paying for a stream subscription, would much rather pay for a proper subscription.

I think it's a good proposal, yes. Asides from the obvious strain early kick-offs put on traveling supporters, there's also the entertainment factor. Personally, whenever a game kicks-off anytime before say, 2pm, I always feel it is slightly ruined as a spectacle, and the atmosphere at the ground is certainly not the same either, and whenever this is one of the big derby games or top-of table clashes, it almost ruins the fixture completely. I don't believe it would effect any attendances in the lower league's to be honest, as someone said earlier, there is almost a complete media overkill in the Premiership these days, and attendances in the lower leagues have improved year upon year. If they absolutely can't allow televised games at 3pm on a Saturday, then they should do something about limiting the number of early kick-off's a team has in each season, perhaps a maximum of 3 a season in the league, and two Cup ties, and NO 'stellar' fixtures should kick-off early (except in extreme circumstances).

And you'd like to see our two games a season vs the mancs as regular evening kick-offs no doubt.

Are you suggesting that Sky will change more of our kick-offs in the opening months of the season than has already been announced - cos that is rubbish

 

And apparently travelling fans can make very early or late kick offs - we always manage to make it in hefty numbers
