Bellers and Penny

are gonna take this team to another level. We now have pace in abundance in midfield and attack. Add to this that our pacey players are actually good with the ball at their feet (although rafa did say gonzalez plays like Cisse, only on the wing a while back ) and I can see rip teams apart this season.

For the first time since rafa arrived, he now has the option to play with two genuine wide players on the flanks with the ability to go past players. I reckon this is gonna add a new dimension to our central midfield as well. Xabi, and to a lesser extent Gerrard, is gonna love it.

Really think Bellers is gonna be a revelation for us. We've needed someone who is gonna punish a defence pushed to high up ruthlessly, yet has the skill and close control to handle himself in tight spaces as well. With players like these three and passers like Xabi and steve (possible add in Aurlio and Agger in defence), we are gonna absolutely kill teams on the break.

I've thought throughout preseason that the first challenge to overcome is simply to sustain our level from last year. we were really really good and probably played above our actual level, but with players like this, I definitely think we'll se an entirely new dimension to the team.

Bellers is awful, but isn't as bad as "Gerro"

I've never seen or heard anyone anywhere refer to him as that apart from The Star, is the extra letter in "Stevie" really too much to fit into headlines?

New song for "Penny" Pennant:

Penny Lane by the Beatles

You ducking out of that now you've done the majority of the work.

Gerro is awful, its pathetic and I hate seeing it aswell.

Nobody calls him Gerro apart from those tabloids nobody reads here.

It's almost like they think that's what scousers would call him. Nauseating.

I always thought they callede him Gerro cause it was shorter than Gerrard, I hardly ever see it refered to outside of the headlines.

i just like to say gonzalez isnt that quick. not in bellers league, more like kewell in terms of pace.

that goes against everything ES said a while ago, when he was over training for a couple of weeks in January, and ES reported he was quicker than anything in the squad, inc Cisse.

Based on what, out of interest? I thought his reputation for speeeeeeeeeed, of the "legging it" kind, was pretty well established?

Anything? What about the squad's whippet mascot?

Reina commented on Gonzalez pace the other day. He said something like 'you need pace in this league and Gonzalez has a lot of pace' with a huge grin on his face.

I'll never trust Pepe again now that he didn't say he was only as quick as Kewell.

since when has a pre season counted for anything in total honest - if it really meant anything spurs would have walked the title.

and this season everton will not score 1 goal (but if there was ever a time for pre season to act as a pre cursor let it be now!)

athletes try to achieve peak condition when it matters - pre season is the training period - nothing more or less.

its more about building confidence

What are you basing this on? Everything I've seen suggests he'll one of the quickest at the club, he looks way faster than Kewell

Everyone knows he's a porker. His pace is almost sloth-like. All those clips on you-tube were on fast forward.

You can tell about some players at pre-season.

Do you remember Sean Dundee saying how quick he was and saying that he couldn't wait to compare himself to Owen? When the fat porker turned up at Crewe and was painfully slow as well as having the footballing ability of Diana Ross , it proved to be a good pointer for the remainder of his career
