Gilps Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Their Ten Contenders Philip Lahm, Germany v Costa Rica Torsten Frings, Germany v Costa Rica Tomas Rosicky, Czech Rep v USA Fernando Torres, Spain v Ukraine Steven Gerrard, England v Trinidad & Tobago Esteban Cambiasso, Argentina v Serbia & M'negro Bakary Kone, Ivory Coast v Holland Deco, Portugal v Iran Joe Cole, Sweden v England Maxi Rodriguez, Argentina v Mexico Rodriguez for me (24 pass moves are so over rated)
Herbie von Smalls Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 rodriguez by a long way. given the context in which it was scored too. lahm and kone second and third respectively
Hightown Phil Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Rodriguez's was good, but if the keeper had stuck his right arm out, instead of bizarely deciding to try and save it with his left when diving right, it wouldn't have gone in. Cambiasso's goal was just awesome.
Cooldude Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Cambiasso no.1, Maxi Rodriguez no.2 (Following closely enough) Cambiasso goal ain't overrated at the slightest, wasn't about the amount of passes leading to that goal, it's the quality of those passes and the utter perfection of the build-up play and finish. That's football at its finest

Bootle Buck Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 (edited) Personally I liked Zidanes against Brazil. It was a masterclass in finishing and not just a pot shot from 30 yards. In reality Maxi Rodriguez's effort was out of this world Edited July 6, 2006 by Bootle Buck
