Well indeed. I'd agree with Leo that we still potentially have a good side to put out next season, even if we have a couple of big-name departures. But we probably will be skating on thin ice when it comes to squad depth and options. I think we'll struggle for top-four, but talk of relegation is nonsense as things stand at the moment. The reason I'm depressed is less to do with what 11 we'll see kicking off next season, but more the 11 we'll see kicking off in 3 or 4 season's time. We're destined for mediocrity at the moment, and that could well be a best-case scenario.

His record at Fulham is nothing special, let alone "a miracle". It's the UEFA cup run that has elevated his stock beyond all recognition. Fulham won one game away from home in the league this year. One. That makes our away record look stirling in comparison. They were far weaker in the league this season than the season before, and this in a league that was frankly rubbish. I just don't see it I'm afraid. He's a decent, solid manager, but I can't see anything that would suggest he'd do anything other than a decent, solid job for us. I can't see any of our big stars being too excited by the appointment.
