  1. All this talk of 20-30 million for Tevez? United haven't paid any transfer fee of that much for him. I believe its something like 2million a year plus his wages. The Tevez deal will be a special kind of deal and not a straight 20million. He is treated completely different than other players and I think people should remember this when thinking of Rafa's transfer kitty etc. Rafa could end up selling one of our current players for 6-8mand that fee could pay for Tevez for 2 seasons i.e. because its a "loan" type of deal wit Tevez.
  2. Feck! I hate when he doesn't play - everything usually goes through him. This match was going to be tough anyway, but no we are missing our playmaker - it makes it harder. Not the best news
  3. Will Gerrard and Torres play every game? I used to think like that aswell, but with it being such a squad game now and the midfield and attack constantly changing, I think he would be able to fit, especially because he can play right and left of an attack. If he was signed, there will be so,so many options available: -------------Reina -Arby Carra Agger Insua --------Masch Alonso -Kuyt------------------Tevez ------------Gerrard ------------Torres -------------Reina -Arby Carra Agger Insua ------------Alonso -Kuyt------------------Barry ------------Gerrard --------Torres-----Tevez Then if some other transfers happen, different options again: --------------Reina -Johnson Carra Sk Insua ---------Alonso----Barry -Tevez-----------------Benayoun -------------Gerrard --------------Torres And when Torres is rested and for the games he won't play (cause he won't play all of them), we would have more options again -------------Reina -Arby Carra Sk Auerlio ------Masch---Alonso Kuyt--------------Benayoun ------------Gerrard ------------Tevez We only have Torres and Ngog as our recognised strikers (of course Kuyt is the other option) and bringing in Tevez would give us another striker when Torres is not in the team. I think he is definitely a Rafa type player, hard working, hungry and can play in a number of positions.
  4. Phil Thompson on Irish Radio this morning mentioned the following summer transfers he is hearing about/expecting: Gareth Barry, Glen Johnson and Valencia from Wigan, he then said that if Tevez doesn't sign for United, then Liverpool are interested in him as he was a target before he joined United.
  5. Wasn't there something about Rafa talking to Tevez's agent for an hour during the week? Some insider heard this didn't they, so maybe there is something in it? If we got money for Voronin and Babel and spent some to get Tevez, sounds like good business to me.

    Dirk

Thought he was outstanding and everytime we attacked, I wanted it to go through him Didn't want him to come off - but was he knackered? (I could only watch by stream)
  7. Thanks alot for that - much appreciated!
  8. Anyone with a link to a good stream other than Sopcast? No access to Sky tonight, so its the web for me please?

    Agger

Think 2 of Raf's hardest decisions at the club are going to be: 1) When to drop/rotate/play Carra 2) When to replace Gerrard The Carra situation is going to be the first and lets see how Carra copes with firstly being left out and then secondly playing less and less. Will he accept that? or if the rumours where true about him saying he didn't want to play right back, then will he be similarly stubborn about playing 2nd fiddle to 2 younger Centre backs. Personally I really rate Agger and the closet Ive seen to a Hansen type for years, I think it would be a huge, huge mistake to let me leave.
  10. Very good points, and could be very precarious for them if they for some reason stop having success (hopefully) and their fans stop filling their stadium for each game and every other revenue goes down. Interesting times
  11. he is being such a c*** - along with that other muppet Houghton commentating. Whelan is loving throwing the boot in
  12. Thought Alonso completely bossed everything out there today - so he's my MOTM
  13. Come on Villa tomorrow!!! United to drop points again and to really get the shakes while the Red Army marches on....
  14. A huge congrats to Arby for winning the ball in order to set up the goal for Yossi!!!!
  15. Behave We want Chelsea to lose aswell - we alone can put the pressure on United
  16. There's the 2 problems with that, Owen will not sit on a bench quietly (and the tabloids would have a field day) and then he certainly won't take a wage cut - sure that was the reason for his 2 last club moves. (Would you seriously move to Newcastle in your prime for anything other than money?) Agree with other posters, we need 1 maybe 2 quality additions to compliment our attack. i.e. Torres doesn't need a partner - Gerrard is his partner in the Dalglish/Rush mold and we just need 1 maybe 2 attacking midfielders (i.e. someone who can create, bring the ball forward, attack and pass players. Unfortunately there isn't many of that type of player around and without sounding all championship manager, I would like us to even try and sign someone like Ribery (If Im honest, Im gutted we didn't step in for Arshavin when the Keane mess was going - thought he would have been a great fit for us - hardworking/energetic/direct and scores goals)
  17. As someone else has said and has taken the words out of my mouth: A real life Roy of the Rovers
  18. I thought it was great to see the fans get behind him last night - hope it increases his confidence.
  19. If Carra's legs are "too dead" for playing at Right Back, then maybe he needs a rest altogether? Or maybe they are waiting for Agger to get back fit to give him that rest, but for some reason, I doubt he will take the rest...

Well now Im laughing at you, especially at how you can't grasp the concept and resort to childish remarks and smiley's. I will try and keep it simple for you from now onwards If you can't contribute, when not head over to myspace or somewhere as daft where your comments will be appreciated by the audience.

Beckham starting playing for United in 96-97, by then they had already won the title 2-3 times and had a huge worldwide marketing plan in operation allowing them to start financing their increased capacity. Sure they had already increased their stadium size for the 96 Euro finals - are you trying to say that United funded these by Beckham? Of course Beckham was a major marketing tool - but he became involved 5 years after their plans had started and left them 6 years ago - so I think United's ability to generate such vast money relies alot more than 1 player.

Completely agree with you, but lets look at it like this: - United make more money from their stadium and match day revenue so how did they do this and with what money? They used to have a capacity of 50,000 at the same time we had a capacity of 45,000 - so how come they have been able to get to nearly 80,000 and we haven't? At the same time that we had similar capacities, but Liverpool were the most successful and easily as "marketable" as they were - why didn't we generate the same amount of cash that they did? Was it nothing to due with them selling everything imaginable to their fans everywhere? We haven't been able to (or been managed properly) extend Anfield or build a new stadium because we didn't have the money. Where were we to get the money from?

"Around the world" also means the UK and Ireland. So how did United afford their stadium expansion then? Did they get the money from a sugar daddy or did they generate the income initially from their fan base? Or if none of the above - where did they get the money from?

WTF has D Beckham got to do with it. Its about the club, not an individual player. So its about the new stadium then is it? - So how were the club going to pay for a new stadium when 1) we couldn't generate enough money from our fan base 2) Mr Moores couldn't step in a give us the money 3) Fans boycotting products and therefore not giving their money to the club How are we going to afford to build this stadium? How did United afford to extend their stadium from 50,000 to 80,000? Did they not get that money from their fans?
