As much as Im excited by the additions this summer, I have to admit that this Barry deal is really starting to worry me. 19million for Gareth ******* Barry, it really is ridiculous at this stage. The most I would have even dreamed we would have payed would have been between 10-13 million. Finnan is being seriously undervalued at 1.5million. Why even let me go for that money. Sure that's one of our squad players yearly wages. I would prefer to keep him as cover for this seasons push for the League. He is very experienced and can do a job. As for Pennant moving for 5million? We paid 7 million and he was man of the match in the Champions League final, how the hell is he worth 5million and David Bently 17million?
-
Its absolutely awful!!
-
On the wing?? He's up front in both the team I mention 433 or 442 with the full backs pushing on .....As for Skrtel and with Carra at right back - sure I think that will happen in some games, but Rafa has mentioned on a few occasions about the full back getting forward and hence the reason for his comments about Degen getting forward well. Plenty of options for us this season and as usual we won't end games with the same starting 11 Sure I can see this happening: Starting 11 AT 3PM: ----------------Reina --Degen --- Carra - Agger --- Dossena ------------Mascherano- ----Kuyt ---Gerrard -- Barry ---------Keane --- Torres Ending 11 at 4.45pm: ----------------Reina --Degen --- Carra - Agger --- Aurelio ------------Mascherano- -Benayoun---Gerrard -- Babel ---------Keane --- Torres Babel on for Barry Aurelio on for Dossena Benayoun on for Kuyt etc etc....
-
Many thanks to Elisha and sorry couldn't resist: -----------------Reina --Degen --- Carra - Agger --- Dossena --------------Mascherano- -------Gerrard --- Barry ------Keane --- Torres --- Babel or ----------------Reina --Degen --- Carra - Agger --- Dossena ------------Mascherano- ----Kuyt ---Gerrard -- Barry ---------Keane --- Torres

VDV in come and get me plea to Liverpool
-
2 midfielders and 2 strikers, yep, thats all.
-
Great stuff - now we have strengthened right and left back and have Agger back. Our Defence is solid now, just need a backup keeper. Now to move on to the Midfield with hopefully Barry and 1 other to arrive and then a couple of strikers and we are sorted.
-
= Torres, Crespo, Keane and Voronin
-
See this where I see the problem for new players - who's going to be left out? As most don't expect Kuyt or Babel to be dropped, then who will be - out of this in order to accomodate new players? -----------------Torres --Babel--------Gerrard-----------Kuyt -----------Barry--------Masch

And news to excite 1 Liverpool fan: Voronin Staying! VORONIN: I OWE THE FANS Andriy Voronin is relishing the prospect of his second season with Liverpool and has promised supporters that his best is still to come. The Ukraine international admits that he did not feature as much as he would have liked during his debut campaign with the Reds, but insists that he is now happy with life in England and determined to show the Anfield faithful just what he can do. "When I first arrived here I didn't find it easy because I'd lived in Germany for 12 years," he told LFC magazine. "I didn't know the language but I'm gradually getting there. My wife had a a baby here and, thank god, everything was okay. So I am getting more and more used to life here everyday. "We are feeling much better than six or seven months ago. when we have time we go into town. We like it here and don't have any problems with life in England or the town- except for the weather!" Voronin feels he made an impressive start to his Liverpool career, netting a goal of the season contender in a Champions League qualifier away to Toulouse and playing a starring role in the 8-0 win over Besiktas. However, injury and a difficulty with the language saw him struggle to make an impact as the campaign wore on and he admits he hopes to do better in 2008-09. "I think I started not bad," he said. "I played a lot at the beginning and scored a few goals. "Obviously the injury was a setback. There are a lot fo good players here. It's competitive, so it's difficult to get straight back into the team after an injury. "I'll do my best next season and hopefully I can help the team. I think I still have a lot to show the fans." Hopefull we have a limit and won't go beyond it, I can't see the good business sense in letting Alonso go for less than Barry.
-
.....that you don't need to sign every player for over 20 million
-
What did Villa say to Torres? "Fernando, Whats Liverpool Net Spend?"
-
? Okay: When United Bought Ronaldo for 12million - we bought 2 muppets for a total of 15million 6 months earlier Our Manager and Assistant Manager at the time didn't think he was worth 12million i.e we could have bought him Evra 5.5million? How about we signed Riise 4million or the recent Dessena deal for 7million? Vidic for 7million - Agger for 6million? Silvestre for 3.5million - Riise for 4million?
-
Agree - so do the comparison then, because I doubt we are that far behind if we add up all those "young defenders" we've bought for a million here and there. The "pennies" add up too. Why can United win the league and Champions League without spending more than Chelsea then? Money isn't the only factor in winning the League and in Europe.
-
Completely agree with you. Has our manager not mentioned on quite a few occasions that the other clubs are outspending us etc etc? I getting quite sick of it because its rubbing off on others. We always have that excuse is we can't win the Premiership is it? All Im saying is that realistically - what does he want? He's spent approx 100million building his team - if he thinks he needs more than that, then there is only one other club that can give him that....and they are based in London
-
True- he does have less spend, but he potentially has a starting 11 that is 90% signed by him and cost over 100million. He now has to coach them and stop complaining that everyone else is signing 20-30 million pound players all the time, when its quite clear from the current winners starting 11 that its not that. For us comparing to United, what about Chelsea - they have spent more then United, why don't they automatically win it. What about Liverpool having spent more than Arsenal - why did they put in a better challenge then us. The excuses have to stop sometime and the next 2 seasons will request the answers
-
Reality - thats what Im calling for. Every muppet and his dog shouting down for signing players that aren't costing 20 million, but then look at the team United won the Champions League with: THE STARTING 11: GK Edwin Van der Sar 2.5 D Rio Ferdinand 29.1 D Wes Brown 0 D Patrice Evra 5.5 D Nemanja Vidic 7 M Paul Scholes 0 M Owen Hargreaves 18 M Cristiano Ronaldo 12 M Michael Carrick 18 F Wayne Rooney 30 F Carlos Tevez 2 122million Over 100 million - Liverpool's team - over 100 million Its down to the right players and the right coaching and the will to win. Did Brown, VDS, Evra, Vidic, even Ronaldo cost over 20million - people need to cop on! I was asked to compare the spend on the first 11 of Liverpool next year, to United/Chelsea's - so I did.
-
Fantasy how - they are the teams and the figures, sure Ive left out more of our players that I could have put in also: Riise 4million to Silvestre 3.5million Finnan 3.5 million to Neville 0million Lucas 6million to Anderson 17million Pennant's 8million to Nani 18million Beni 5million to Giggs 0million Liverpool 26.5 United 38.5 There too much fantasy on here, with everyone wanting us to spend 20million on each player we sign or they are crap and we can't win the league rubbish
-
Yes you are right, but t** for that: Will I leave Pennant 7million in over Park 3.7 or Will I leave Lucas 6million in over Fletcher, Giggs, Scholes 0million ?? As for Tevez: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_T%C3%A9vez Following the payment of £2 million to West Ham by MSI, Tévez was formally released from his contract with West Ham. Manchester United put forward a proposed two-year loan deal for Tévez to the Premier League, which was approved on 10 August. We can pick and each - but Rafa has/is spending 100million getting his team together and I think its enough for a challenge. Basically no more excuses.
-
I stated that I got the team from a United Website which I think was the team they wanted to start for the Final. I think it could be the team that started the semi, Tevez as a 2million joke: United HAVE HIM ON LOAN and haven't signed him yet- we could of done the same. United can only start with 11 players like us and Saha and Carrick are not list, Crouch and Alonso aren't for us. I just think its getting ridiculous when people are requesting every player we sign is for 20million or above, and the example was asked for was United, well I gave it. Position: Player Million Million Result GK: EVDS 2 Reina 6 Liverpool more expensive RB: Brown 0 Arbeloa 2.5 Liverpool more expensive LB: Evra 5.5 Dossena 7 Liverpool more expensive CB: Ferdinand 29.1 Agger 5.8 United more expensive CB: Vidic 7 Skrtel 6.5 United more expensive M: Park 3.7 Kuyt 9 Liverpool more expensive M: Ronaldo 12 Barry 18 Liverpool more expensive M: Hargreaves 18 Masch 18 The same M: Scholes 0 Gerrard 0 The same ST: Tevez 2 Babel 11.5 Liverpool more expensive ST: Rooney 30 Torres 20 United more expensive Total: 109.3 104.3 Diff: 5 Of course I know that United and Chelsea have more to spend, but my original point is that Rafa isn't a million miles behind.
-
Okay - lets see then: I did a quick google to a manc site and this was one of their teams (think it was the semi final - so its a standard first United 11): GK: EVDS 2 RB: Brown 0 LB: Evra 5.5 CB: Ferdinand 29.1 CB: Vidic 7 LM: Park 3.7 RM: Ronaldo 12 DM: Hargreaves 18 CM: Scholes 0 ST: Tevez 2 (loan deal) ST: Rooney 30 109.3million Compared to our expected team: Reina 6million Arbeloa 2.5million Skrtel 6.5million Agger 5.8million Dossena 7million* Kuyt 9million Gerrard 0 Masch 18million* Barry 18* Babel 11.5million Torres 20million *some estimated - but total: 104million Not a million miles away is it? Basically, I think Rafa and others are talking too much about the so called a team of "20-30"million pound players. Excuses will be run out after a while....
-
But why? If Rafa joined the club 4 years ago and by the start of his 4th season with us had compiled a first 11 costing 100million, I think he would have been delighted. All Im saying is that this team isn't cheap is it.
