I taking all this with a pinch of salt, but if Eto'o does indeed leave Barca for £25million and at a time that Hargeaves goes for 20million, I think the world of football has been turned on its a***.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...070611-1058.htm Liverpool newboy Andriy Voronin has spoken of his determination to force his way into Rafa Benitez's first team. The Ukrainian striker will arrive at Melwood for pre-season following his free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. "I haven't made this decision to just sit on the bench," said the 27-year-old. "I will be coming to get into the team and form a partnership with someone." Can I be the firs to post a panic post claiming he's a definite starter considering he says so and then be the first to include him in the formation thread because its already the 11th June and we haven't signed a striker yet..... Reina Finnan Carra Agger Riise Masch Gerrard Alonso Kewell Voronin Kuyt We're doomed

Can anyone name 1 scottish player currently playing in the SPL that would actually get into our team?
-
I was going to post that Ive actually been in the Colts stadium in Indianapolis (the only American Football ground Ive ever been in) and was going to say how impressive I thought it was......then I see its the new stadium they are talking about. Jesus - they change their stadiums every 25 years it seems......
-
We actually need a double signing from Scotland The twins lads calling themselves the Proclaimers......sure they are real "Rafa type" players as they will walk 500 miles......alot like Kuyt.
-
A well thought out response there So last year we never had one of our midfielders suspended, injured or rested due to being involved in 4 competitions then? ....no of course not. Sure I must be as thick as Rafa in thinking we need a strong squad of players in order to compete on all fronts.
-
Before people post things like the orginal post - can they please think first. What about injuries, suspensions and the fact we will be involved in 4 competitions......think first eh?

What a load of tripe! Rafa and the club approached Owen on at least 4 occasions in the months before he left asking him to sign a contract extension - of which he replied, he would do it at the end of the season......of course he then left it to the last minute and signed for Madrid to "win trophies" how you think Rafa sold him for 8million plus Nunez in order to fund Xabi & Garcia for a total of 16million is beyond me. Jesus, he f**ed us over once in leaving and then again when we wanted him back. He's interested in money and his England career.....let him live the life he wants and has chosen.

Don't even mention the Rush transfer in the same context of Owen, and that other prat Mc Moneyman, Ian Rush was upfront about wanting to try his luck in a foreign country and approched Kenny about it and then there was negotiations between Liverpool and Juventus and the deal was struck that Rush would play 1 more season and then play for Juve. As part of the deal, Liverpool were given the first refusal in buying him back. The fee was 3.2million and at the time is was the 4/5 highest transfer fee in the WORLD and the highest transfer fee an english club ever received. Liverpool were aware of the situation the whole time and Rush never strung them along with promises he didn't keep. Basically it was all above board and the club got a great deal at the time. Ian Rush left the club on great terms with the manager and chairman - which in contrast is completely different to the other 2 that messed the club about when they were trying to make as much money for themselves over the club. Let Owen play out his days with the also rans and leave us to keep picking up trophies....

So he came free then... did he?

only a "dent" Do ur research sonny ....ever hear of A Rod - check google and see what the paid for him, then come to the forum with a different opinion

No-one at the club has mentiond anything about a "budget", infact on numerous occasions Rafa. G&H and Parry has said it isn't a matter of a figure of budget - its a list of players that is wanted and everything will be done to get them. These owners want us to compete and are preparing to increase the stadium, they promised that and they are currently doing it. The have promised to buy the players that Rafa wants and if it takes 40million to get one of his signings, then so be it. We are dealing with a competely different scenario to the last 2-3 seasons when are big buys were 10million. This COULD be true and I have no problem with it if we can get the players require to change our title aspirations into reality. Links:http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4182/is_20001214/ai_n10142467 Tom Hicks who bought "A-Rod" - the equilvant of maybe Eto'o/Ronaldihno NEW Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has promised to back manager Rafa Benitez in the transfer market this summer - 'whatever the price'. The American businessman bought the club for £220million with partner George Gillett in February. And on the eve of the Champions League Final against AC Milan in Athens, Hicks has promised more investment to buy the world's best. "Liverpool should be one of the top one or two clubs in all of football - that's our ambition," he told ITV Sport. "There will be substantial funds available to Rafa Benitez. It's player specific. If Rafa has a player he really wants - and who costs a lot of money but he can show where he fits in - we'll do it, whatever the price."

Liverpool bid 60M (EUR) for sammy eto'o Its 40million Sterling then. Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaasee let this be true. If our owners have the cash, then it doesn't really matter. He could and I think he is (of one) the missing link to us competing for the league. Also, people do have to rememeber that we are now owned by people who broke the bank to sign the best baseball player in the world at the time and completely overspent to get their man.
-
ya think so? FFS, this is the same guy who left our club to "win trophies" and let us believe he wanted to sign a new contract then He chooses money(Newcastle) and his England career over coming back to Liverpool .....and you honestly think he is that desperate to come "home" .........Michael Owen looks after Michael Owen and couldn't give a s*** about "returning home"
-
Charming as ever I see.

The new "Gems"

IF rafa signs number 1 target Alves this summer - who loses out in midfield if we play 2 upfront? Alves Gerrard Masch Alonso Kewell?? or is Rafa's overall play (as displayed last night) to have a sole striker i.e.: ----------------Masch Alves Gerrard Alonso Kewell ----------------Eto'o ?
-
Most intelligent post of the day so far. There is no way we will "seriously" challenge for the league if we completely overhaul our "team" ......again! I still stand over my opinion that we should only change the "team" of 3/4 QUALITY players If we have another season of half our team "adjusting to the premiership", I think I will lose the run of myself and getting rightly pissed off. We need a new Right Winger (First Choice: Alves) New Left Winger (don't know any) and 2 new striker Eto'o + 1 (Voronin=squad player)
