the early years only had 8 teams so it wasnt as tough to win as it is today, but lets not get small time about it. I hate it when people trot out the argument that its harder to win now and try to denigrate our achievements in the 70's and 80's. Madrid deserve credit for having the 9 wins.

There has been a pattern to our transfer dealings under Rafa, and we dont always give players time to settle in. In his frst season the deals for Garcia and Alonso were only completed once we had confirmed CL qualification. Last year we missed out in the end, but it was late August when we were trying to bring in Simao, Figo and Owen. Based on how we have done our deals in the last couple of years I'd be surprised if we make another big purchase until CL qualification is confirmed.

fowler will score loads of goals this season. For me the onyl doubt about robbie for the coming season is whether or not he will he get the number 9 shirt back now that cisse has gone.
