Explain how thats supposed to be arrogant. I believe that in order to be called the best club in Europe, a team should be consistently challenging for the title in its own country. We haven't won the dam thing in 16 years and we haven't even mustered much of a challenge for it for a long time now......(and that includes the season we finished second). Winning the title should now be number one priority. Of course I'm not saying I don't want us to win the CL this year......thats just plain stupid. I'm saying if winning the league meant giving up challenging for the CL for some years, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Well obviously now that we're out of the league I want us to win the CL. So I agree with you.

I would quite happily give up any chance of winning the CL trophy again for the next 10 years if it meant winning the league title even once. Istanbul was magic but somehow the thought of winning the CL while finishing 4th/3rd in our own league is not appealing anymore. Am I alone in this?

There is no doubt in my mind that Rafa can win us another CL or FA cup but as far as the league goes...........I'm not so sure. He obviously realized the need for pacy wingers and got Pennant and Gonzalez....that didnt work out so well. However his persistence with playing with two defensive midfielders (alonso/sissoko or sissoko/masch) is the reason we don't score as many goals as we should. Watch the other top teams, they rely on mobile midfielders to come into the box and support the strikers. Our midfield has the mobility of a walrus. The only exception is Gerrard but he's not really the creative type, Garcia is but sadly he's out.

when we play a midfield that is absolutely devoid of any creative talent then buying all the strikers in the world will not solve our problems
