So many teams throw on a third striker when they need a goal and as far as I can tell, it never works, Boro tried it for a while against us, ferguson has tried it numerous times and it was often houlliers tactic as well. Why do so many top managers persist with this when it never seems to work. Nice to see Benitez knows better.

I dont read UK papers or news sites. I believe it may POSSIBLY be true for the reasons I have already stated. Rafa has played Morientes in every game and has shelled out a significant pile of moolah for Crouch. If he is going to continue playing only one striker, you have to admit that presents some obstacles to resigning owen don't you? Dont get me wrong, I would be happy to see Owen come back but not for anymore money than we sold him for and certainly not for 100,000 a week. And most certainly not at the cost of the CB and RW that we desperately need.

As much as people deny it, this Michael Owen "return" reeks of Parry and Moores doing. Why on earth would Rafa spend money on a striker he sold the previous season? Also, given that he is known to play only one striker up front, has his favorite in Morientes and just bought Crouch, not to mention the presence of Cisse.....WHY WOULD HE WANT ANOTHER STRIKER?
