  1. Jose was serious! Has he lost it? or was he just trying to screw of chelsea before he left? 'Wright-Phillips ruined my Chelsea move' - Baros (Soccernet) New Lyon striker Milan Baros claims he was on the verge of joining Chelsea from Aston Villa before leaving the Premiership for France on Monday. The 25-year-old told Czech daily Sport the switch fell through due to Shaun Wright-Phillips' reluctance to leave the champions for Villa Park. Baros said: 'I agreed [to the move] with Chelsea. It was practically a finished thing. Everything broke down over the fact Wright-Phillips did not want to go to Aston Villa. 'And coach [Martin] O'Neill told me that without any replacement, he would not let me go as he would not have any strikers left.' Baros, who signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Stade Gerland with Norwegian John Carew going in the opposite direction, admitted talking to Blues coach Jose Mourinho after the goalless Premiership game at Villa Park on January 2. 'We just spoke about the match,' said the former Liverpool frontman. 'Just after the game in the tunnel he told me that he wanted me to join the team and asked me if I was interested. I told him so. But it did not happen in the end.' When asked if he was sorry the move did not come off, Baros replied: 'I would be sorry if I went to a worse club, but now I am at Lyon.' The Czech Republic international admits he struggled during his time at Villa. 'I was injured, the club fought against relegation in the first season. They are close to the bottom again,' he said 'This does not help an individual and it is difficult to shine. And we did not play in Europe. 'I do not want to make excuses, Aston Villa was not a good contract for me and I am glad it is over.'
  2. Can we say SACK PARRY again?
  3. So in typical Liverpool style as per our transfers, our takeover will drag on forever. What next Samir sitting on a plane in dubai ready to take off for anfield and sign the deal only for it to be scuppered at the last minute?

  6. If young is worth 9 million then Crouch has to be worth 15 million plus. He is the main England striker after all........ I don't like all the long balls that go for his sponge head when he's on but thats hardly his fault

  12. In-n-Out puts every other fast food place to shame.....and there's none where I live
  13. American sports are all about superstars and big deals. Its what draws the fans. Major league soccer (MLS) is a bunch of no names on minimum wage. As much as I dislike Beckham, his arrival can only raise the profile of the sport and attract other stars as well. Footie in the US cannot do any worse than it is now. Since most of his pay likely comes from image rights I can't see how this is a bad deal either way.
  14. we shouldnt have played Gerrard or Garcia for that matter.

  18. dudek had no chance with the first but the second could have been saved
  19. We have all the possesion but in the box we just are toothless, the pass in is often aimed at no one in particular especially from Pennant. I don't know if the strikers are poorly positioned or if the balls in are just poor.

  22. Any chance you can post this piece of wisdom over on RAOTL? Whoever thought the day would come when I was shaking my head in agreement with Anny Rd. Well said both of you.
  23. Bingo, and that means we have both our central midfielders playing defensive roles. How pathetic is that if we consider ourselves title challengers? We did well last season Huyton but came nowhere near challenging for the title inspite of our points total. And the other fact is that we don't do well against Chelsea, scum etc even if Sissoko is in the side...... Playing Sissoko means that you HAVE to play another holding midfielder.........and it blunts our attack. Last season Gerrard scored 23 goals from out right, well good for him but we need to have a system that works and provides good support for the strikers, not just Gerrard. Which brings me to my other point...why do quality strikers constantly struggle at Liverpool.......maybe just maybe.....its the way we play and not that the strikers are crap? Bellamy and Kuyt are clearly quality and still struggle to score regularly......why.......they have to keep dropping deep to get the ball. Our movement is getting better now with Gerrard in the middle, bring Sissoko back in and we are back to square one.
  24. Time and again we have seen that Momo's inclusion means zero threat from the center. Gerrard out wide means, he does not play as an actual wide player and keeps cutting in. End result.....not width/no threat from center
  25. Its about Momo being an amazing player but offering absolutely nothing going forward.
