There is no need to spend anymore than Rafa wants to. So any argument about net spending is ridiculous. The idea the we should spend just for the sake of spending x amount of money is just silly. That said, all this bashing of Usher, Bascombe and the Count is a little premature since from what has transpired so far, they haven't been proven wrong yet. I would be more than happy with Torres, Benayoun and Babel. A winger would be icing on the cake.

If we were to get another winger, when on earth would all these players get regular playing time? Simao/Quaresma, Babel, Benayoun, Gerrard, Mascherano, Sissoko, Alonso, Pennant, Lucas, Kewell.........may not seem all that much but none of them seem like they would like being benchwarmers.

Then whats the point of buying so many youngsters?

With the impending departures of Bellamy and Gonzalez. Rafa has once again showed his ruthless streak, in that sense, he is the opposite of GH who persisted on and on with players in the hope they would come good. However, I would like to see new players given more than one season to prove themselves to the team especially the likes of Gonzalez. Quite a few players have looked poor in their first season and then blossomed. Granted from the looks of things, they didnt perform very well but I still think we should give players a more than one season......

I think Lucas maybe the surprise of the summer. It seems no one here expects anything out of him this year but I think it will be quite the opposite providing Rafa plays him.

If all our players received such patience from the manager and fans, we would still have smicer, josemi, cheyrou etc etc
