  1. the notion of 'team' in athletics also extends to the nation though, and nations not being banned yet, at least. may be wrong, but don't see much precedence for it in other more analogous team events unless the doping is proven to be institutional.
  2. rooney threw in a pretty dubious challenge, unmentioned too. oliver always terrified to make the big decisions in these games. mancs could have had more too.
  3. hummels' family live in munich apparently, he started his career there, i think it's also because it's the exclusive club in Germany in a way that probably doesn't exist in other countries that have at least two competing in terms of money or historic trophy haul. but yeah a bit hypocritical if he's slagged goetze.
  4. wonder what amazing lengths the manager goes to to "justify" sturridge's omission?
  5. prefer norwich to stay up. we tend to take more points off them.
  6. lallana just pings it back to ibe, surely that's the error in that scenario?
  7. might not spend at quite the levels of the really huge clubs, but they spend plenty. it's not a particularly uplifting story apart from that. they've had massive debt for years, are involved with loads of murky third parties, have evaded tax, dodgy sponsorships, unpaid wages etc.
  8. think flores also a bit more difficult than has been apparent. never been anywhere long. pretty sure he fell out with players at atletico. how many more world cups and champions leagues would he have won then?
  9. if we try to f*** him off, won't he just point at kolo toure.
  10. we wanted to pay 6, burnley wanted 10. taken how long to work this out?
  11. possible, coming on in the right circumstances, he presents something a bit more menacing for a spanish defence than he seems to for your average domestic oppo. villareal not the smoothest. but beaten decent teams in this tournament and in la liga this season. they'll probably look to counter. soriano the one to worry about shutting down i think.
  12. This content is not viewable to guests.
  13. so many emotions. hard to comprehend how this must feel for those truly amazing families.
  14. another famous victory for tony pulis.
  15. we played something more like a diamond. ie. even more onus on full back to be forward and provide width, and more onus on tucked in midfield to cover. watch the way blame is attributed the next time we concede far stick from a cross coming in from the other side.
  16. i'd pick sturridge i think, but firmino might get the nod ahead of him (if they don't both play) on basis that one of klopp's first principles is winning the ball high up as the most effective way of both defending and attacking. certainly wouldn't shock me if he went that way.
  17. now a micro-analysis of his defending and no one elses. and no mention of the positive contributions to our goals. both newcastle goals we fail to counter-press on the edge of their box. klopp will be most concerned with that i imagine. from there, on the first, milner could do more to stop that crossfield ball. sissoko loses allen (for both goals, in fact). toure sucked out. even before you get to randall and particularly mignolet's rank error. fine, possible moreno could do something more on both occasions, but no chance his is the principle mistake in either goal where five and six things could be done better.
  18. i think he might go firmino, coutinho and lallana.
  19. hasn't it been reported as non- performance enhancing? idiotic from sakho though. they get weighed all the time. think even though he wears shirt out you can tell he's carrying a bit of a gut.
  20. moreno was good yesterday. again.
  21. which is what i've said in the post you quoted. and i haven't actually, at any point, disputed the yellow either. not sure why this is being viewed as some sort of defence of vardy. as i pointed out previously. and to me could make it a foul. he trips him in doing it. a foul he could arguably have been booked for. the rest is semantics. but personally don't see throwing yourself down when there is contact as a 'dive', since you now regularly get situations where penalties are given without fuss in this way. the idea that there isn't a level of deception in most of these incidents is a bigger lie than the act itself.
  22. that while his not starting v. dortmund was effectively a demotion (in my view) it didn't mean i thought the manager didn't rate him. but that was three or four posts in. i said this about the idea of selling him at the time it was being discussed: the idea of selling him was moot then. but i could understand the frustration (and, mostly, i think that's what it was). but yes, the calling out feels presumptuous when he's only been back a matter of months and we can't have much confidence that there isn't another long lay-off round the corner. we obviously hope not.
  23. so some jumps in the air are dives, and some aren't? almost as if it's incidental to other considerations.
