  1. so all jumps into the air are dives? i don't think so. he is seeking to deceive referee though, but more because he's not interested at all in the ball and effectively runs into defender to make contact. benteke throws himself forward v. palace, off very little contact, but it's a pen for me. here, as i say, i think vardy fouls the defender before anything else.
  2. to me it's just a foul by vardy. he exaggerates his fall, but not before he's basically run into the defender and tripped him. a dive, to me, infers no or minimal contact, which isn't really the case there even if he does throw himself. there are legitimate penalties given all the time where the attacker goes down easily.
  3. obviously. it's 9pm k.o. so could catch second half if you're not going tonight. or catch highlights.
  4. suppose they can make it work if they sell a load, but dortmund are both frugal and limited in what they do with wages and fees. currently spending something like 90 million euros a year on wages compared to the top clubs who are on 200+. should be possible to price them out.
  5. villareal are at madrid tonight for anyone interested in taking a look at them. think they'll be missing a few though.
  6. behemoths like gotze is where it's at.
  7. yeah, although wasn't that under rafa? and probably not his decision. cuadrado and salah arguably didn't get fair crack either under mourinho. and they could have saved time and money on matic too.
  8. mourinho proper f***ed them on that one. they could probably do with lukaku too.
  9. go there now and again. saw a dance thing called zero degrees that was good. and the flamenco on a couple of occasions. theatre might be the thing i've struggled with most of all. but maybe, thinking about it, and Molby's point, i've done it in a less researched way.
  10. chelsea will be desperate to see leicester win it. more likely to mean them rolling over for leicester than beating spurs though, way they're playing.
  11. sturridge played 90 minutes in the league games before and after the second leg, clearly not only about fitness, could easily have been rotated the other way. although i think the 120 he struggled with v. city in the cup final might have come into klopp's thinking. the manager's also said he's now in great shape. and that decision to pick origi in first leg, at least, was a tactical one. wasn't there also a veiled reference to a lack of defensive work after one game (southampton possibly)? it doesn't mean he doesn't rate sturridge, of course. and that was never my point.
  12. newcastle have some talent that could probably be rehabilitated to a decent level at the right club, but we'll be looking at better you'd hope. krul better than ruddy, for me. although neither great.
  13. not a fan of any of them that up and leave. including suarez who would have gone to arsenal if he could have. and then ultimately left a situation with more potential than torres did. or alonso who put a request in.
  14. i didn't advocate selling him. i just find the ridicule of anyone who did a bit unneccessary. he's our best paid player and has an awful record of getting on the pitch. and i don't believe his not starting two massive games now is simply a matter of managing his fitness.
  15. never been an argument about talent. find the 'who's selling him now' thing a bit of an odd response though. after a dozen or so games during which he's lost his place, effectively. and the various comments from managers about his fitness before that. great player, but if he's out for another prolonged spell I wouldn't be hanging on. we're moving forward with or without him. as it should be.
  16. genuinely contributed to our forward game in last three, both with and without ball.
  17. according to some tweet I saw also first time that a Liverpool centre half partnership have both scored in same game since 1974.
  18. but roy hodgson hasn't. nowhere near.
  19. not a popular view probably, or someone else might have said it, but i think he's been really good these last few weeks.
  20. manager thought he was world class. the subs were good. i think it's hard in a game in which there was so much going on in the emotions of the teams and in the crowd to say anyone settled anything down really. dortmund were certainly becoming more subdued around that time. and downright panicky after that.
  21. not sure he is young enough.
  22. lot of hate out there. but then, you know, they can't quite turn away even when they've convinced themselves we're no longer relevant, and then s*** like thursday happens.
  23. made it his. the wild volley before it a silly bit of decision making, but that desire to be the unlikely hero not always a bad thing. and he's done a few other decent things in forward areas recently actually.
  24. stewart not registered for europe. lucas and allen going to be important obviously, but think we do at least have benefit of forward players who have shown they can be comfortable supplementing midfield/press, even if it didn't quite work on thursday, first half.
