yeah i agree, i was just disagreeing with neil when he said it wasn't necessarily a centre mid issue (paraphrasing), where else on the pitch do you get that? i wrote it thinking he was probably thinking it could be agger-led, if we pinned the opposition back and let the defence start the moves and switch the play a la alonso. This is what united do and why they don't really need to worry about using their midfield when they've got the ball. it is infuriating that without agger our central defence is functional at best.

it's basically a centre mid issue though isn't it.

It's vital that Carragher and Agger play for large swathes of this season as our centre back partnership.

it's annoying isn't it. he should have scored important goals against fiorentina, man united and yesterday (that i can remember, there's a couple more). i keep saying all he needs is a big goal to complete his recovery in the eyes of the fans, but he's missed some great chances. yesterday was the worst.

Not everyone was saying it though, and it seems strange that he was underrated by Benitez after he made him his billboard signing and built the team around him. Even if it was just a bit of frustration that he wasn't playing consistently at the level he should have been it's still a bit odd.
