But could it have been the one season Alonso shined for us, as the two before that were average, was the same season he knew he was off and putting himself in the shop window so he could have his dream move back to Spain and Real Madrid. Putting it another way, had we of won the League last season would Alonso have stayed? But let's not make this about one player as the reason we came second last season. He didn't play every match last season and we won without him. Scored goals when he didn't play. Like beating the Mancs 4-1 at theirs when he wasn't around and they had Plassy.. If Alonso was so key to our passing attack there's no way we beat the Mancs at theirs without him. Especially after we beat them 2-1 at Anfield with an own goal and revenge on Whiskey noses mind .

But Leo, who did we lose from last season who provided all this pace we're missing? Or even balance to the wings? We've got the exact same players except we've added Maxi now. We've also scored more goals at home this season than about any other we've had since the late 1980's. Our away form has been s*** to be sure but it's still the same group supplying Torres and Gerrard who did last season from the wings home and away. I'd also argue that if Gerrard would pass the ball more effectively in and around the box we'd have more chances. There's been numerous times Kuyt, Lucas, Benayoun, even Riera and Babel have made some runs and got into good positions only never to see the ball. Torres and Gerrard can toss their hands up when they don't get it but others aren't allowed that privilege.

Kuyt has 9 League goals. Gerrard has 6 league goals. Maybe Gerrard should up his game to Dirks level. Oh and there is only 4 starts difference between them 25 to 29.

I seen posts like this before. And I wonder. Surely Gerrard and Torres know who is in the team. Surely they know who is most likely to play. Surely they don't expect Messi to show up unannounced and play for us Sunday. So how could they be frustrated at the teams Rafa puts out. If Gerrard thinks for example Maxi would do better than Kuyt on the right, well he's Captain go talk to the gaffer. Don't fecking sulk on the pitch during the match. As another example if he wants Spearing to start instead of Lucas, go make a case to Rafa. If Gerrard, Torres, Carragher or any player thinks they be better managers then give it a go. Maybe Gerrard should go to G&H and tell them he'd be much better than Rafa and they should get rid of Rafa and make him player manager in the mold of Dalglish. They can save the managers wages and he'd do it on what he gets now. Who knows maybe he'd sit himself when he doesn't perform up to expectations then.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick. The £80M is what we get. There are incentives for more should we win something. Fyds: I agree with you on your assessment above. And where it seems people think that RBS will "do something" this summer I find that a remote possibility. The club can service the loans with or without being in the Champions League. That much should be plain to people. RBS want the loan paid down. Has anyone tried to ascertain why? Are we a bad bet to repay the interest? No, we are not. Could we pay the loan down over time say 10% per year. We probably could. RBS and Wachovia have already received £137M back off the total loan in 3 years. But RBS has to know if we build a new stadium our finances can't stand the dual loans. So their theory, imho, is to get the loan for the club paid down so that the stadium loan does not impact the ability of the club to pay off both. That is why the extra investment to pay the £100M is required. Then all the wheeling and deal on the stadium can proceed. Stadium naming rights, etc. to help pay for it. That is why G&H are offering a portion of the club because they can go ahead with the stadium. Watch and see if within 6 months or so if they get the £100M and the loan in the summer is done that the stadium isn't announced as the package to fund it is in place. They're here for the long term unless a Suger Daddy or some other fool pays their price.

I agree. Purslow will only get the 3-4 year refinance if the £100m comes in. But it also suggests that should the £100m not make it by July, we'll be back to another one year rolling refinance. I don't see RBS calling in the loan and basically putting us into administration. It seems like crying wolf about administration. But as long as that is an extremely remote prospect then people will tout it up. But to what end?

Per the SOS minutes with Purslow. JM - If the bank want £100 million paying down on the debt as part of the last re-financing, what will they ask for in the summer? Will it just be for 12 months again? CP - I have got a conditional agreement for a 3/4 year loan deal. At the last re-financing agreement, Hicks and Gillett paid down the debt with their own money. A new investor will pay down the £100 million needed now. The banks want us reducing debt and being cautious. RBS are annoyed and unhappy with Hicks and Gillett and they want a change of ownership. The £100 million pay down is compulsory, it has to be done. I will not agree to a deal that is unworkable for us, but we need to have the owners own and the managers manage. Does that not sound like to you that RBS would like £100 million paid down before the next loan and if the club does that then Purslow has a 3-4 year loan in the bag? Hardly sounds as though RBS will call the loan in and put us into administration if they don't get the £100 million. My guess is that RBS want the extra £100 million before they'll finance a new stadium and the extra debt that will carry. Obviously it will be a separate vehicle. But in total with the other loan RBS are not willing to go to far and have the club that much further exposed debt wise..

PeeG: You've done an admiral job of answering some concerns. But surely can not SOS see that OOC'ers won't be represented much if at all if you've explianed this right about setting up out of town/country SOS chapters. Say you set one up in Los Angles California. They can then represent their members at any meetings we hold over here that they are able to attend and will be in regular contact with the committee so they can have a bigger say on things from the views of the local branch Are you expecting the Chapter Chairman to fly over 4 times a year to go to meetings just so he can represent "the members" in his chapter? Or someone from Singapore, Madrid, or wherever? You are spot on about logistics being the problem. You want everyone local so they can attend the meetings. Instead of that, secure voting via the internet gives access to every member. not just those who fly in for a meeting. The AGM's should be used to give out results of the voting and take up other issues for a future vote once the idea is developed.

Few believe were going to go into administration because we won't. Loans keep getting renewed. Interest is paid. And there is no threat to LFC concerning administration because the banks aren't calling in the loans. The club will either renew the loan with RBS, or we'll get more investment and get that 3-4 year loan Purslow said he has and agreement on. So how could we be even anywhere near administration if RBS is willing to talk 3-4 year loan with the club? Most people suss this out. Especially some older types who have seen and done it all. To them it seems SOS is crying wolf and is the real problem with their protests. Especially with the money Rafa has spent. ( forget net spend, mean sweet FA to most. Anything is viable. Admit haven't seen the video as it's blocked at work. The problem could be the hit one takes redeveloping Stand by Stand or tearing down Anfield and rebuilding on the same site. Where do we go to play our matches for the 1-2 years it will take to build the new stadium? Ground share with Everton? As if they'd have us after all that's gone on about not ground sharing. Plus the under ground stuff would have to be thoroughly dug up and taken care of. Anyone remember when the sewer line collapsed and the Kop had to be redone? So it is more than just the cosmetics of what we see. Then there is the number of suites and executive boxes to be part of the new Anfield. Where a new Stanley Park stadium becomes more viable is that Anfield is already paid for and we can still use it whilst we build a new stadium. If we stay where we are it will cost us more, rent to the club we share a ground with, and probably less capacity so we earn less to boot. That's a double hit. Spend more and take in less. All the while paying for a new stadium. Doable but only if someone has a lot of money and is adamant of staying where we are. Imho.

Refs only have to file a report. So they're not about to open their gobs to the tv shortly after the match is over and explain anything when they haven't done their report. They need time to justify their calls on incidents first.

Oh, you mean copy the Mancs as they burnt effigies of Glazer when he took over during their protests. As for the scarves--make them Silver with some Red trim. Silver because the owners are after our pieces of Silver off the Club. Plus it would stand out in the Kop. And we've had Silver/Grey kits before. I think people just prefer Black and Corinthians is a convenient excuse. 90% of our support won't give a feck about Corinthians or get the connection. We need one that visually stands out. People see Black and they'll think we have Newcastle fans in the Kop.
