Rafa is a control freak. Unless he wanted to quit the game, he won't go to Real Madrid. He's got control here. he's got the Kop singing his name. He'll have sweet FA at Madrid. He would put up with that if he felt he could get the payday and take a season there. Then retire from the game or take the Spanish national job. The Minister with his fans initiative is nothing more than a political stunt for election purposes. The Mancs are high profile, Liverpool less so, and now the government gets interested. Do they really care if fans buy the club? If fans could afford the club, why didn't Chester survive? Or any other club that is having financial problems? If the fans can buy the club, all the better. But the government doesn't have to get involved to do it. Uefa can spout and talk all they want as well. When it comes to the politics in both government and Uefa we are talking years IF anything gets done. And if it does it will be so watered down as to be not much more than window dressing. Anyone pinning their hopes and dreams on either initiative are going to be waiting a long time. In the meantime we have a club to worry about. And one thing our recent past should show is G&H are slimy barstewards and will get refinanced with or without RBS. They know what the golden goose is. And they own it.

Any new owner can do what he bloody well pleases. It's not in the banks remit to sort out buyers and find the best one who loves the club and will be guardians of the past and future. The banks remit is to make money. The one with the highest bid wins. Who the hell that may be is anybody's guess. Do we trust the bank to get it right for the supporters or right for themselves?

The club in the past have learnt to shift players at or near the end of the careers. This would be no different. Gerrard won't go on forever. Or Carragher. Like Hyypia, etc. Players would get upset if you sell your best players in their prime. And so far we haven't done that. As few players who leave us go on to glory elsewhere playing full time.

Loads of things interest me. People can take stats and make out what they want from them. As you've chosen to do with the home matches so far. I can do the same from 1988. Portsmouth, Watford, & Charlton 11 goals there we put past them. 19th, 20th, and 17th place at the end of the season. I could add 4 goals v Derby who came 15th. We battered some bottom feeders. That's what better clubs are expected to do. And that continues today when we play any side in the bottom half .

I'll agree that the '88 side was fantastic and no where near comparable to this years side. But did we sneak 37 goals in this season at home?
