Sorry, just catching up. So the net argument is the old board dicked around for years. True enough. And why was that? Because they did not want to risk their own personal portfolios to take out loans against. Why is that so hard to understand? They couldn't find a way to take out loans the value of the new Stadium because the club wasn't worth that much versus the cost of a new stadium. So the board sat back and looked at various ways and means to finance the new stadum without risking their own money. Which is 180 degrees opposite of how G&H and others go about doing things. So yeah, the old board held us back in so many ways. But to bring up that they should have financed a new stadium by loading debt is something they were not going to risk. You're beating a horse to death all because of the angst over G&H owning the club. We are where we are. Revisitng old history does not change things. It is not going to get G&H out of the club any sooner. That is where the focus should be.

So Knox.. what are you saying. That Mooores could have leveraged something to build a stadium rather than sell the club. That selling the club was, in hindsight, a poor decision. Just like not leveraging was a poor decision. Revisionist don't you think. It's all easy when it is not your money and not your decision to make. I'll submit to you that the board and Moores knew and were advised on various financial options to build the new stadium. Leveraging included. So because they didn't make a decision which in hindsight might have been better per you, and then again may not have been, you'll point this out for everyone. Let's say for arguments sake the board did go the leveraging route. In that case until the stadium was built there may have been virtually no money for Rafa to spend as there would be no more credit line to go after. So 3-4 years of very limited purchases for new players would mean we wouldn't have Torres at the moment along with others from the previous two transfer windows. Chances are we'd be midtable after not qualifying for the CL the last X number of years. G&H at least, through loans, have spent 40+ mil net the last two seasons per ttnbd. This season our net is crap. So yeah, we'd have the Parry Bowl. Have a side mid table. And then Moores could sell the club to some sugar daddy willing to toss in 200 mil in transfers just to get us back to the CL on top of the purchase price of the club and paying off a stadium. Easie peasie. Or Moores could sell to some investment consortium which would still mean loads of debt as they look to make a profit. And supporters clamouring for the good ol' days when we were in the CL instead of trying to beat Everton into the Europa League.

Yes Moores and the club could have leveraged their own assets because they had trouble securing the loans versus the clubs net worth at the time to finance the stadium. Or how soon people forget. There were extensions during the planning application because the funding wasn't there. What was there though was the potential sale of the club. This was the out card for Moores and the board. As they were not about to risk their personal fortunes to build a stadium. Otherwise they would have had it under construction before G&H or DIC ever became involved. So in "theory" Moores and the board could have leveraged their assets. In practice they wouldn't for the amount of the cost of a new stadium.

Oh I dunno.. Looks to me like he is saying that Moores could have borrowed the money and we'd be better off. Ok, Moores "could" have. But he didn't and I was explaining why. That option was always available and if Moores and the old board have wanted to exercise that option they could have. Considering the club was up for sale for near two years before G&H came in, I think that answers the question. The board were not going to risk their holdings to borrow more money. It then becomes a moot point. And revisionist.

I understand that. You think Moores and the board could have taken on the debt. What I am trying to convey is that option was available to them. They knew that. But the reason Moores put the club up for sale is the ex-board and the Chairman were not about to risk their own financial holdings as collateral against more loans. So your premise is and was a non starter. Which ultimately means you are trying to make financial decisions for them that they themselves rejected.

Nice of you to spend Moores money for him. Not to mention the previous board. It was Moores who had the club up for sale for near 2 years for the distinct reason he and the board didn't want to invest any more money in the club. They even struggled to find financing for the Parry Bowl. The potential sale of the club is what Moores and the board were banking on to finance the new stadium, not their own dosh. So it is very easy to reinvent history and claim Moores could have financed the stadium when the facts are the board were struggling to do so and only did because they knew the club would be sold and they'd be off the hook for the financial guarantees.

I think we have a better "squad" than people give us credit for. First Rafa is changing the system because Alonso is gone. Lucas is getting forward more often and deeper into attack than Alonso ever would. So the players need to adjust. Those players being Gerrard and Torres. It is going to take a little time to work it out in matches. So we will struggle early doors. I'd wait 10 matches in before slitting my wrists..

Good job it wasn't Lucas who have away the pen. With Lucas playing a more forward position Mascherano is just inside the center circle directing play like Alonso did. Now either we complain about not enough bodies in the box or we pay attention to a new role for a CM and maybe some growing pains within the side to exploit the new style. So your point is? The same people who buy from touts are the same types who have the money to buy the hospitality packages. The same touts who get their tickets from where? I suggest you offer a ticket plan that is workable for the club. And when you do watch the whinging going on because you knock back one type of supporter or the other. This is why SOS doesn't come up with a plan to present to the club. Our own supporters whinge at each other because in the end someone always loses out or is perceived to lose out.
