I'm gobsmacked. Please feel free to list the extensive list of things we can be thankful to him for, without mentioning the PL a decade ago (when he sold the TV rights on a long term deal at rates that turned out to be laughable) or bringing Rafa in. Because obviously Rafa came in because of Parry. It had nothing to do with the team, its history and its legacy, the fans or the fact we sent him a load of free gear when he was a young struggling coach for his team. No, it was down to Parry. As a CE his first reponsibility is to formulate and implement a proper management structure. He is so incompetent and insecure he never has. Zero marketing department and no-one else responsible for ticketing. Its laughable to pass over the decade long ticketing fisaco, because it is the only high profile indication we have as fans of how efficient he is. we'll ignore what players mates have said about his incompetence when it comes to transfers. He didn't have to jeopardise his job - over the last year he has many opportunities to diffuse situations or act diplomatically, but he never has. The bottom line is Rafa doesn't suffer fools and Parry is one. If parry had anything like the level of professionalism being suggested he and Rafa would get on well. They most certainly don't.

I didn't compare their crimes

Absolutely; couldn't agree more. Aurelio at LB, Finnan at RB. Hicks go home. This is an important thread, I apologise to everyone for derailing it.

As an aside, I've been in Iraq as part of the British army. I've seen a lot of death there at first hand, with my own eyes, so forgive me if I don't get as upset about a bit of name calling as I do about Bush murdering many tens of thousands of civilians. And it would take a lot to convince me he didn't do it to line the pockets of him, his family and all their oil rich friends, throughout the world. In the process, he is threatening the American nation with the possibility of the worst recession in modern history, with the rest of the western world inevitably following. Like I say, America has far more to worry about than a bit of gentle name calling.

I'm well pissed, but I don't see how thats relevant. I don't think its dodgy in the least. For the record I'm white and a bloke and I don't consider myself racist in the least. I have close friends from varied ethnic groups. I'm saying Bush has f***ed it up badly and that the leading candidates to the be the next president are a woman and Obama. Thats not racist, its a statement of fact. Funnily enough, it was originally said by Chris Rock, a black guy, live on TV last week. But that was okay. Tyipcal political correctness gone too far in the modern world. Good job I didn't question why its okay for black folk, including Rock live on stage, to use the 'N' word, but white folk say it in any context and their careers are ruined by it. Lets be totally clear I'm not in any way jutsifying use of the word, just the double standards that can exist. I know what the word prejudice means. I don't and didn't apply the brush to all Americans. I clearly stated that people who had voted for Bush and those who were too lazy to get off their arses and vote were at fault for the f***wit Bush being in power. Given the damage Bush has done to the world (and I mean environmentally more than even his international policy) go far beyong getting pissed off over a name call of him. As for tarring all Americans with the same brush - I didn't. My closing statement was about Hick being called names; personally, I don't give two hoots if it upsets him or not. As for specifics, you've given one example of the use of the word 'yank', but there are many different uses of the word, many of which are and have been embraced by American citizens. I opened the post by saying, don't take this personally. That wasn't meant as a meaningless gesture, I meant it. It wasn't aimed at you or many Americans.
-
Don't take this personally, but Americans forced Bush on the world, by voting for him. At the moment, you are a laughing stock - thats amongst the few friends you have. Amongst the majority of the world, you are reviled. This to the extent that a white man has zero chance of getting elected to be your next President - its between a woman and a person of mixed ethnicity. American policy has cost the world massively, in all sorts of ways, in the name of filling the pockets of the Bush family and their friends. Thats the fault of the American people who voted for him and those who couldn't be arsed to get out and vote. Taking that into account, along with the behaviour, lies, deceit and avarice displayed by Hicks, to the total detriment of our club, you and he are in no position to have any complaint about people calling him offensive or contemptuous names.

They were negotiating with Parry and Moores. Dumb and Dumber have nothing on them pair.
-
Fixed and you're welcome.

Spot on and we now know that even the signings that were made last summer were not up front but were in the form of credit notes from banks that saddled the club with more debt. Yet another example of the extent of Parrys incompetence that these clowns were ever allowed near the club.

Theres an issue here that seems to have gone under the radar. In one of the american articles linked on these forums it said Torres, Lucas and Babel were bought with credit notes from the banks, which were subsequently added to the debt. This article seems to confirm that. They really are a pair of two faced clowns.

Thats the Ferguson who took 7 years to win the league, finishing in positions like 11th, 6th, 11th with McGrath, Whiteside, McClair, Bruce, Hughes, Ince, Pallister et all all there for 4 or 5 years before they won it. Great sides don't just need the players, they often need years to find their stride and pattern. We should stick with Rafa and believe in him. He has the strength of character and conviction the very few great managers have. If we sack Rafa it will be a huge step backwards and take us years to recover. A number of our players are more limited than we have thought in the past, but Rafa is consistently improving the squad - that in itself is something we couldn't say for any of our managers in the last fifteen years. For our part, we can choose to be like the Manc fans chanting for ferguson to be sacked in his fifth and sixth seasons, or we can give the team and the manager our backing. Put it this way, its easy to be the best fans in the world when your team are winning.

What you are ignoring fyds, is that the whole press thing has caused a lot of damage to the club and the fans. It could have been totally squashed in a second, at any time, by our clown of a Chief Exec or by the Americans. They have purposely chosen to let it run. There are only two possible reasons : i) they really are considering sacking Rafa; ii) they've let the club be dragged through the mud to teach Rafa a lesson. On top of that we are aware that Rafa and Parry have had a longstanding poor relationship and falling out. I believe Parry is incompetent as a Chief Exec, but I also believe he is a competent political animal and its taking the chance to twist the knife to strengthen his position. He is now the fulcrum of the club and, most particularly, at the center of all communications with the owners. Whichever is true of the above two options, the reaction of all the fans is understandable. I do agree with you, that it may not be as bad as it has appeared, but the illusion has been perpetuated by the owners silence as much as the presses mischief, if that is what it is. I don't read anything into the Skrtal signing, as far as Rafas position is concerned. One or two more injuries in that department and we would be playing Stevie and JAR at CB.

Ferguson took 7 years to win the League. In his third season they finished eleventh, in his fourth season thirteenth and in his fifth season they finished sixth. It took him seven years to win the League. During that time they were splashing the cash all over the place, breaking the British record transfer fee. When they finally won the League (it was the first Prem season) the team were in 10th place in November. And then all the signings clicked together and the rest is history. Hughes, McGrath, Pallister, Bruce, Hughes, Ince, McClair et al had all been there multiple seasons - getting nowhere near the title. Fans want to sack Rafa because he is so strong minded. Wake the f*** up. Being so strong minded was the greatest strength Shanks and Taggart had and have.

Have you any idea how much of an idiot you sound saying that and having Sack Benitez in your signature. You make rashid sound sensible. Hughes, McGrath, Pallister, Bruce, Ince, McClair, Giggs, Schmeichel et al had all been there multiple seasons - getting nowhere near the title. Its only this season Rafa has been able to afford the quality of players we need to move forward. If tools like you had been Mancs Taggart wouldn't have lasted three seasons.

He's been here 10 years this season; its got f*** all to do with what direction he is under from the owners. He is the Chief Exec. He is responsible for every aspect of the club, strategically. Three easy examples of his incompetence - a decade of one fiasco after another when it comes to ticketing, the ridiculous state of the marketing department (we practically haven't had one for his entire tenure) and that poxy little house just round the corner from the ground thats housed the official supporters club, thats forever been run like with all the efficiency of a small time fanzine. The icing on the cake was the last Champions League Final, when Rafa didn't even have a f***ing hotel room. Any competent CE would have allocated people to check, double check and triple check arrangements and have spare rooms available, if necessary. Rafa was walking the streets of the city all night because he didn't have a room. Of course thats not Parrys fault - IT NEVER IS. Those are just a small number of the obvious public examples. There have been many second hand stories from friends of players about Parry not being available during the last days of transfer windows and f***ing transfers up. Absolutely irrelevant. None of us can live off what we achieved 15 years ago. While we dismiss it though, its hilarious that people make such a big thing about the Prem TV deal. How hard was it ? They had them over a barrel and as subsequent deals have shown revenues have grown and grown, astronomically. So he agreed to take 40 million a year in a TV deal and he worked for the Football Association. Big deal. I wouldn't trust them numpties to organise a piss up in a brewery.

Parry is the Chief Executive. He is responsible for the strategic planning of every aspect of running the club. If some areas are too much for him, he should create new positions and recruit people. He never has. He is incompetent and insecure. Its always someone elses fault and he never shoulders the responsibility. I've never heard anyone remotely connected with the club, even second or third hand, stick up for Parry or have anything to say to demonstrate his competence. I've heard plenty of stories of his incompetence - quite apart from the obvious, regular public displays. Rafa is totally at odds with him due to his ongoing ineptitude. Yes, you are right. We can also blame the Board of Directors - who are Parry, David Moores, and our friends the Americans.
