They're not really getting up steam though They've beaten Fulham away, and us at home in the league. Had Alonso stayed on yesterday we would have got at least a point I think. They beat Real Madrid away which was a good result, but to be fair if you were looking to pick a team perfectly set up for Arsenal to be effective against, it would probably be Madrid. Its away in the league they've suffered, and I could see them losing points at Man City Man Utd Portsmouth At the very least. Just as we couldn't make the final push last season and catch Everton (because didn't have the right blend of players) neither will Arsenal this.

    Cisse

He's inconsistent when controlling the ball. Sometimes he can kills it dead, other times it bounces off him. Its luck rather than technique with him. His second touch, the one where he actually has to think about what he is going to do with ball, is woeful.

  9. Be surprised if Arsenal get past Juve - just don't think they have the wit. Having said that I didn't think we would. I'd like to see Lyon win it now.
  10. That sounds almost optimistic!

  12. Worrying on the face of it as the nearest they have come to signing real world class is probably Crespo and Makalele. The rest, particualrly those signed by Mourinho, have just been decentish players for high fees. Having said that, you never know how these things are going to turn out - especially coming to a league like ours which is a bit different.
  13. Good point Damned early morning posts
  14. how may does he have to read for that?
  15. Neither is Cisse who has had plenty of chances. And with respect I am not sure your own ability to play better any training than in matches in any way disproves the point, that Rafa works with them every day and knows what he sees.
  16. Why is Cisse the answer all of a sudden. Hes crap. There's little or no more probability of goals with him in the team.
  17. We've rarely got anything there recently, and they'll be very confident. They've not been good this season away from home, but still look good at home for the most part. Happy with a draw on Sunday. I'd be tempted to go with Gerrard on the right as hes more likely to stop Henry's left wing runs. I'd give Kewell a try up with Crouch, but that might not be possible with Riise being out.

    Tactics

Crouch is a fine player, but really he needs someone to work off him, and as you say he needs wingers that get behind the opposition more. Baros was decent enough, and probably would have come in handy this season, but he wasn't a long term answer. Short term pain for long term gain I think.
  19. They were both poor so don't think it made much difference.
  20. Simao was definately getting booed.
  21. after arsenal we have fulham at home, not newcastle away
  22. you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear (every year)
  23. 3...0 Gerrard, Crouch x2
  24. good luck to the lad. Be surprised if he gets on, but just going with the team and being on the bench will help him in the long term. Suppose this means he must be getting close to the 1st team now.
