  1. When was the last year we had a great start, in your opinion?

    Peter Crouch

I was wondering if Crouch was even worried about his nose. Don't remember him winning too many headers. His overall play is nowhere near as good as last year. Maybe this is because he's not playing as deep to use his feet, and we still look for the long ball up to him. He's a great finisher but I have to say I wouldn't be gutted if he left to be replaced by somebody better. I think we'd make a profit on him too - Barcodes probably. Bellamy is by far our best striker at the moment, I really like him as a player. Hope he stays in the summer although he could well leave. Apparently Voronin is similar in style to Bellamy according to Rafa. My wishlist for next year: Etoo Bellamy Voronin Crouch/a n other. potentially a lot of new strikers tho
  3. where'd those ratings come from? would like to see ours I'd still back us over them if we met in the CL. Maybe it's the European mentality.
  4. The problem unlike Makelele is that Momo tends to collect the ball higher up the pitch where there's less time and it's harder to pick a pass. I think we just have to accept his limitations, like any player. Still love him tho. You'll never get past Sissoko.

  6. 'The greatest side for you to see, 3 European Cups for Bob Paisley' Thousands back Bob?s knighthoodFeb 27 2007 by Ian Hernon, Liverpool Echo TONY Blair?s inbox has been swamped with thousands of supporters backing the posthumous knighthood for Bob Paisley. The ECHO revealed the campaign for the Reds great had been logged with No 10 last Monday. Since then, the few hundred backers have been swelled by more than 12,000. The petition now stands in 10th place of the 3,850 on the prime minister?s own site, introduced to encourage "people power". Story continues ADVERTISEMENT Only major national issues such as calls to scrap inheritance tax, hospital closures and the hunting act, and in support of the Red Arrows and the Royal Navy, are ahead of the Paisley petition. Petitions which are behind it include calls to abolish faith schools, give professional status to engineers and sack Ruth Kelly. A Whitehall source said: "It has really taken off and it would be difficult to ignore if it really goes stratospheric." Wavertree MP Jane Kennedy said: "It would be a fitting tribute to a great manager." The e-petition was tabled by Liverpool fan Ian Little, who pointed out that Bob Paisley steered the club to a record three European Cup titles, yet was only awarded the OBE. He said: "Manchester United's Alex Ferguson has only won it once yet he got a knighthood. That is not equitable." Support for the petition, which closes on March 13, has flooded in from across Merseyside, the UK and beyond. A Westminster constitutional expert said there is nothing in the honours rules to prevent a posthumous knighthood. Bob Paisley played for Liverpool between 1939 and 1954 and in 1974 replaced Bill Shankly as manager. Over the next nine seasons the club won three European Cups, six League titles, one European Super Cup, one UEFA Cup and five Charity Shields. After his 1983 retirement he continued to serve as a director. He died, after suffering from Alzheimer's, in 1996. 7. Getting outside to be faced with half the Spanish police force "We're the best behaved supporters in the Land"
  8. that's the one i meant. that UEFA one is boring
  9. You don't often hear him speak - his persona has been created by the media related to his various incidents. But I thought he came across really well, certainly made light of the Riise incident.

    Sky

That noise will have been from the away end. we were loud I reckon there were about 2000 reds scattered in the home end, but pretty spread out. you could tell from the end when they kept us behind. Amazing night/result!
  11. reading all this it seems obvious: Ronaldo to Barca to join Deco Ronaldinho to us
  12. not looking at medals, I'd say we saw McManamans best football at Anfield. Mabye that's his point.
  13. Tue-Thur. Any bars lined up?
  14. Yeah I can see the logic - my nan could rape the a*** out of Riise at the moment. and she isn't even a bloke any more Just the Aurelio isn't the best defensively either, and Gonzales still doesn't convince although against Spanish opposition could be more suited to him. Either that, or put Riise at LM. on a related note, to drag up a previous thread - we shouldn't have sold Warnock till the summer

    Kuyt

Kuyt has looked poor in the last few games, maybe he needs a rest. His touch hasn't looked the best recently though i think his postitioning makes it harder. He's playing a deeper role at the moment, although it's based on workrate rather that guile which makes him look worse than he is as he's not overly skilful. However he does spend too much time outside the box for me, which is frustrating when him and Bellamy play together as you con find them both on the left wing with nobody in the area. I think these 2 are our best partnership at the moment, but I'd agree that both need to pay alongside a box player/out and out striker. His workrate and ability to come deep make him useful away from home, but not so much when we're at home where it just seems to crowd things. If I had to name his top 3 attributes, I'd say workrate, workrate and workrate, in that nothing else really stands out. If he spent more time shooting maybe that would get a look in. Bellamy is a great asset who causes defences more problems than Owen did with his running and dribbling, but his finishing's not the best. Would be great with a Shearer type. Good striker for away games especially, he's first choice for me at the moment. You'd think he would work best with Crouch due to the typical big man/little man combo, but it seems to be Kuyt who he's gelling with best. Crouch isn't playing well at the moment. He's probably our best goalscorer/finisher, but he's not playing anywhere near as well as he did last year in terms of his link play and holding up the ball. It doesn't help him that whenever he plays we feel the need to lump it up to him on a regular basis, despite him being absolutely rubbish at heading or challenging for the ball. Crouch and Kuyt as a partnership are way too slow to be effective - defences just push up knowing they're in no danger. In short, I agree with what's been said about all 3 being great as the 'second striker' who can all add support/threat to a main goalscorer. Shearer being the obvious example of what we need. Also agree with the lack of goals from midfield being a problem - Gerrard is the only one who looks capable of double figures, or even getting near. The defence hasn't really been contributing enough either IMO.
  16. Smaller than Anfield?? surprised at that. Should help our long ball game if Crouchy plays. 4-4-2 formation for me. Reina Finnan-Carra-Agger-Riise(although currently s****) Gerrard--Alonso--Momo--Aurelio Kuyt--Bellamy Can't see any other formation with the injuries we have, and assuming no-one gets fit. Could possibly play Pennant and 5 in midfield, but I'd rather have Kuyt's workrate and Bellamy's pace. 3 centre backs too risky I'd say.
  17. Knox = Mockertastic
  18. get them to make a '5 times' one

    New ground

11 years for me now. Apparently there's none been waiting 12 so I'm hoping the new stadium will mean i finally get one! 11 years of ringing the TO for every game
  21. Depending how ready for the first team Bale would be, hopefully the fact that Evra is doing so well might give him second thoughts. We've never actually showed any interest in Bale from what I understand, due to cash, so now we could afford him it would be interesting to see if we get involved. He'd have a better chance of first team football at Anfield.
  22. Stick the Shankly gates in there and we have a winner
  23. Just give everyone a copy of the Echo, it'll be like the good ol days. RTK. POTK.
  24. Reina Finnan Agger Carra Riise Gerrard Alonso Momo Aurelio Bellamy Kuyt Could possibly see Mascherano or Gonzalez come in, but that's the team I'd play
  25. sack em anyway, just in case
