I was very confused about why DIC would just retract their offer and go off in a huff - we didn't reject it, we were just doing the sensible thing by taking more time to consider the Gillette offer. I have to say that all along they have sounded like a better fit for LFC than Gillette and I still feel that way even tho the American offer has improved (in terms of the ground financing etc., not the price per share). I thought DIC may have just been trying to force us to decide, and not in a nice way, which worried me a tad. However the comments by Usher and some of the others about Moores would explain their reaction perfectly, and I'm now worried that that's what's happened. Although you then have to wonder who Usher's sources are and do they have some kind of agenda? I'd be really surprised if after all this time trying to choose the right partner, Moores would effectively shoot himself in the foot and make himself unpopular with the fans for a bit of cash. In a nutshell, I'm confused!

Our left siders on Saturday were Aurelio and Riise who alternated in midfield. With Garcia out, Kewell back god knows when, Gonzales stull unproven and Aurelio not exactly bullet proof it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we could need Warcock at some point, even if only to rest someone. As good as I hope Insua is I wouldn't expect to see him figure this year, and if it is "on", then I'd want as many players as possible at my disposal. Especially as we're not looking like signing anyone. Till the summer, yes. We may have saved a few quid in wages, but I'd rather not open us up to any risk. Impressive You want Zenden at left back, or a 17 year old kid, or some other first teamer who should be in his proper position while we chase Utd and try for the CL?

Alves seems much more likely than Richards, although I'd like both Richards could cover CB and CM, Alves RM. No idea about wingers or strikers, this Leto could easily be another Gonzales tho so not getting my hopes up Edit: Toni, snap!

Don't see the point in selling him now without any kind of replacement - just like Kromkamp. What if we get an injury to Riise/Aurelio? Sell in the summer if needs be, but if we don't need the money (still haven't spent the Kromkamp cash, having not go Neill), then why sell him now? Anyway, all the best Stevie

Crouch was poor yesterday. I understand the reasons for playing him, but I don't think it was particularly effective. Bellamy should have come on sooner, he looked threatening as soon as he touched the ball.

Right then, tell us you away day stories. I've got 2 (I'm a Liverpool fan, if my name didn't give it away): 2001 - Uefa cup final ve Alavez, in Dortmund. We'd got a trip with the official club and were picked up by coaches straight after the game. We got to the airport, more than 20 coaches, and stopped on some b-road outside the airport. We found out that the germans wouldn't let us into the airport, so they left us in our coaches for about 6 hours, with no food/water or anything. The C*nts. We found a coach driver with a crate of water that he was charging about £5 a bottle for. I bought one, and the f*cker was only fizzy! Horrible sh*t. Great result of course, but sh*t journey. The other one was in 2003 I think, in the Carling cup against Millwall. Had never been there before, it's a horrible place to go as an away fan, when it all kicked off. Crammed penned in this metal cage after the game, waiting for the train with all sorts of abuse from the other side. Not nice.

I'm confident about Chelsea. The LC game was an abberation with a reserve team, and the FA cup game serves as a warning of the way we lost to Chelsea last year. We're due a win in a game like that, and it's as good a time as any to play them.

Micah Richards would be a fantastic addition - up and coming player to take over in a year or so when Finnan gets on a bit. Can be the prem's best no question, and can also provide cover at CM if needed. Also I think this is reasonably realistic as probably only us or Chelsea would be in for him and I'd like to think we'd make a better option, with SWP/Glen Johnson as the proof. Alves seems to be the choice however. Also I've liked what I've seen of Matty Taylor at Portsmouth as a CM/RM option - also a real possibility. I'd see signings like these as real 'build a team' players and home grown too, rather than just more imports who may not settle. Still need at least 1 winger - Lennon (unlikely), SWP (ditto) or some random foreigner, and a real top quality striker (god knows who - Torres seems like a good player)
