  1. Terrible management. Absolutely terrible. Completely and utterly humilated players when he could have gone mental at them in private. and acheived the same result. He's done that to appease the fans, when they'll be happy with their lot regardless of today's result, at the expense of the trust of the players. Humilating a great pro like Boateng is poor man management, he's done far too much for Hull to be embarrassed like that for one poor performance.
  2. Gabriel Marcotti is very good and when I agree with Martin Samuel's argument, I don't think there's a more eloquent sports journalist. However, this is not very often and Samuel has far too many agendas. A few years ago, there was barely a week that went by when he wasn't slating Ericksson. Then his new favourite topic was writing about the West Ham and Tevez issue. His writing about Lampard during the time of his mum's death, culminating in his match report of the semi final nearly made me sick, but when he's on point, there's nobody better. Jonathan Wilson is very good, but so much of his work centres around eastern European football, which I have little interest it. The best journalist/pundit in terms of tactics is Stewart Robson, who writes as the Tactician in the Sunday Telegraph and occosianally appears on Channel 5. Agree that the BBC is the worst. Mihir Bose is an utter c***, while Hansen's articles are impressive in that his weekly column of 300 odd words has never said one thing remotely insightful or interesting.
  3. It would be pretty funny if McCarthy took the job again. Clearly he won't as he's doing a good job at Wolves, but it would be a big kick in the teeth to Keane though!
  4. That was the same match where he came back from his eye injury as he was wearing those protective goggles. He decided he didn't like them after 5 minutes, took them off and then tore into all of their players. What a legend.
  5. There's some rubbish being spoken on this thread. Get rid of a quality squad player and play El Zahr more? You're basing that on a few appearances this season? Benayoun's a much better player than El Zahr with bags more experience. Have you already forgotten his run to set up Torres against Chelsea last season? Or his clever pass to create the winning goal against Man City? Or one of Liverpool's best goals last season against Wigan? Fact is, it's very difficult to assemble a strong squad as good players want to play regularly, so what Benayoun is saying isn't that outrageous. Chelsea assemble a strong squad by paying massive wages whilst Man U have spent a lot on very talented youngsters who are content to bide their time. Liverpool can't do either of those things so Rafa has done well to find squad roles for such quality players as Benayoun - but the drawback is that these players will only tolerate it for so long.
  6. I saw a clip on Sky Sports News this morning in which Mourinho was having an argument with an Italian tv presenter. Anyone know what it was about or what was said? Of course the man is a c***, but it looked pretty funny!
  7. Why do you hate posts like that?
  8. I heard the same story, but that it happened when he played for Brian Clough.

  11. 60% of the time, it works every time.
  12. He's only said that Alonso is too slow, which he clearly is. Don't know why that should cause an uproar.
  13. I remember Elisha mentioning whatever it was that Chiles had done to upset him. I can't remember the subject matter, but I think lots of the press and pundits were briefed not to ask Gerrard a question about something, and Chiles had brought this subject up in a recorded interview, so Gerrard just walked away.
  14. So what if Gerrard got uspet with him? It would be better if the football pundits and presenters got in the faces of the players and managers, instead of all trying to be their mates, like Andy Gray and Redknapp do. Well I've got much more time for his opinions than those offered by Hansen, Shearer and Lawro. Anyway, I don't remember him offering too many opinions about the football played, his opinions and thoughts tend to be more about what goes on off the pitch. He has a very good rapport with the other pundits, asks pertinent questions, is engaging, not smug and is occasionally funny. In short, he's everything you want to see in a presenter. I like the fact he spots the quirky and funny things and occasionally professes his ignorance about tactics whilst being genuinely enthusiastic about football. He reminds me of Danny Baker, which isn't a bad thing.
  15. The difference is quality is stark. The best they had was Gordon Strachan, he was brilliant as the regular pundit. Lee Dixon is really good too, he really breaks a game down and analyses where the game was decided. Contrast that to Hansen and Lawrenson's banal analysis on Sunday. The highlights packages put together by the BBC are bad enough (I mean do we really need to see 3 replays of each goal/key moment? Just show more of the football in the 10 minutes, FFS), but afterwards, Lawro just described what happened during the build up to each goal. Thanks for that Lawro, I have a pair of eyes, you c***.

  19. Agree that Mike Ingham is the best on the radio. I think that the best on the TV is the BBC's Steve Wilson.

  23. That is true. But is selling McCartney and Ferdinand for a combined fee of £14 million reason to walk out? Failing to accept those bids should be a sackable offence! You're right though, if they were sold behind his back, particularly McCartney, which meant they had to make last minute loan deal to bring in a replacement, it does leave him in an untenable position.
  24. He has spent the money thrown his way terribly at West Ham. Players like Upson, Dyer, Bellamy and Ljunjberg are notoriously injury prone. Added to this, he was incredibly lucky to avoid relegation 2 seasons ago. I don't feel too much sympathy for him. Other managers have received far less support from their board of directors than he has.
  25. Where has this been announced?
