Mario Gomez is a good bet to be top scorer, he's been brilliant the past 2 seasons in the Bundesliga, plus Germany have 2 pretty easy group games against Poland and Austria. Nihat at 66/1 is a great outside bet. I've staked some money on Holland to finish bottom of their group too. The other three sides in their great defences, and as pointed above, Holland's isn't all that. Plus they're playing Gio Van Bronckhorst as a holding midfielder.

I'm not sure goal.com are the authority on this. Surely the next highest side from that league replace Porto and CSKA Sofia? Otherwise, Portugal/Bulgaria are not represented by the correct amount of teams, thus punishing the whole country as opposed to the offending side.

I remember Murphy arguing with Diouf at Highbury over taking a penalty, you just knew he was going to bang it in. I was surprised when he missed a pen for Fulham this season against Man City, albeit he scored from the rebound. However, if my life depended on a penalty being scored, it'd be Ballack every time. His supreme arrogance is apparant every time he steps up, you just know he's not going to miss.

I've heard a fair few stories that suggest Terry is a proper nasty cunit, so I feel no sympathy for him. He obviously fancied himself as the man to win the champions league for Chelsea and he blew it. f*** him.

Agree about Maicon, a cracking player

I'm sorry, those who say that Deco isn't any good just don't have a clue about football. I went to watch Barcelona play when they were the best side in Europe a couple of years ago and all of their big guns were playing. Deco, along with Xavi, were head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.

Babel was one of the hottest prospects in world football, us signing him was a real coup as nearly all of the big sides in Europe had taken a long look at him. He'd played for Holland and in the Champions League for Ajax and was the stand out player for Holland in last year's U-21 European Championships. Of course he's not proven, the lad is only 21. And he already has 22 caps for Holland! To compare him with Drenthe is like comparing Ashley Young to Jamie O'Hara. Drenthe has barely played this season, and as has already been pointed out, he's a s***house who's already fallen out with Schuster. I have a feeling Babel is going to be sensational for us next season. He tended to drift in and out of games this season but he did show flashes of brilliance, and I think we'll see some more consistency from him next season. I read somewhere recently that Van Basten rates him very highly and thought he struggled to come to terms with not playing in a 433 formation, which is the only system he had played in before he arrived.

How can you be backing Portugal? They have a collection of the nastiest cheats in world football - Deco, Ronaldo and Carvalho to name a few. Their performance against Holland in the last world cup was an absolute disgrace. I must say that their odds to win the tournament are very generous - they have a very easy group and should have a relatively easy path to the final as they will avoid all of the big guns in groups C and D. I really fancied Croatia until Eduardo broke his leg, but I think it's a very difficult tournament to predict.

If Xabi stays, there will no doubt be games in which Barry will play left back. Why's that a bad thing? If it makes our starting 11 stronger, I don't see what the big issue is.

Barry's a top player. I read somewhere that based on what Capello's seen, he rates only 4 players, Gerrard, Rooney, Ferdinand and Barry. That's pretty good company for him to be in. It's sad to say, but I think the game's got too fast for Xabi. The premiership is so fast, he'd be better suited to Spain or Italy where it's a bit slower. Barry's passing isn't as good as Xabi's, but he's more combative.
