  1. I'll give you 10,000-1
  2. The white down the sides is thicker in the home shirt than that shown. The away shirt is yellow and doesn't have a collar
  3. It's often said that he's no good in the air, but the seaon befire we bought him he scored more headers - 7 - than anyone else in the Premiership
  4. Dovedale Road might also be a factor in the pub's name
  5. As an exiled scouser who's lived in NE Surrey/SW London for more years than I care to remember I can say with confidence that Chelsea have a fairly modest fanbase. I would suggest that, in no particular order, the following have a greater fanbase in and around London than the chavs: Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham, Palace Liverpool have a massive fanbase in the SE, which I don't think is fully appreciated by our Merseyside-based fans. I see more people in LFC tops around Croydon/Sutton than Chelsea on an average day
  6. 1971 at Old Toilet when we beat the blues**** 2-1. In those days the away end there had no roof over it - although we had the Stretford End on the day
  7. Yes but Fowler's old and painfully slow. What he feels for the club doesn't make him a better player than the one we offloaded years ago. Personally I'd get rid of Crouch too, but I expect he'll stay, so we do need 3 more strikers
  8. I've said this before, but speaking as an exiled scouser I know first hand the most passionate supporters of Liverpool amongst my friends living darn sarf, only one of whom was born in Liverpool. Many of them are from Lonson and others are from Surrey and Kent - and even one who was born in Nairobi. They are more dedicated than I am, making far more effort to attend matches, spending a fortune in the process. Also it's a bit of a daft attitude to take as all surveys show that a considerable majority of our fanbase is from beyond Merseyside, so us scousers are the minority of our supporters.
  9. Interestingly we were the first club I can recall who used players in positions not usually related to shirt numbers. In the mid-sixties Tommy Smith came in alongside Ron Yeats (No 5 - traditional centre-half), wearing the number 10 shirt (Inside left). In fact Shanks never gets the credit for this pioneering innovation of playing twin centre-backs. I don't recall any other team at that time doing do, but within a year or two everyone else had copied his formation
  10. As far as I can see he's had more appearances than his form has merited
  11. An old bloke writes: Strictly speaking, the numbers were 1 Goalkeeper 2 RB 3 LB 4 Right half 5 Centre half 6 Left half 7 Right winger 8 Inside right 9 Centre forward 10 Inside left 11 Left winger

    Positive Post

We are - we're 12 points behind them, not 15 Outclassed against the chavs away? Seem to remember just conceding sloppy goals from set-pieces
  13. Can't see it myself I think Fowler's the only player where fans add his offside/disallowed goals to his overall tally. So by my reckoning he must have already overtaken Ian Rush on those terms
  14. This is the same Fabregas that has done bugger all until the last month while Arsenal have been losing 11 - or is it 12? - league games He has had a poor season overall so let's hope players who have been consistently good rather than in the last 6 matches are considered

    Mark Gonzalez

Going out on a limb, but probably a bigger number tham the mph (we don't use kph in the UK I'm afraid)
  16. I'm presuming you didn't see the game then
  17. I live down south these days but my brother stopped getting the Football Echo years ago, saying it was indistinguishable from the Everton matchday programme
  18. Yes but it was that late and Fowler's that slow he would barely have reached the edge of their box before the whistle went, so it had to be Nando
  19. To be honest, they weren't 5-1 for nothing. We were also in form, were playing at home, where had kept innumerable clean sheets. As one who bets on an almost daily basis, there was no value at all in taking Everton to win. Someone in my local bookies down south was shouting the odds about backing Beattie to score and Everton winning 2-1. I told him I'd have a side bet with him that Liverpool would win and he could choose the stake - he wouldn't bite needless to say. The worst I could logically see happening was Everton getting everyone behind the ball (their usual Anfield tactic) and grinding out a draw. Nevertheless a Liverpool win was always the more likely betting success. But why is it that when we're in form and even a bunch of scufflers like Everton are in form (although they'd beaten no-one of note really), people discount our form and big up theirs?
  20. It's never been a friendly derby - not in the 40 years I've been going to them anyway. It's a media myth.
  21. He's the worst tipster I've ever heard. He offers pre-match tips at William Hills and whenever he suggests one team will beat another I always do the opposite to what he says. I didn't hear him say Everton were a good bet, but would have predicted it on his past form. As for being a professed Liverpool supporter, I've never heard him have a good word to say about the team
  22. I don't think he underestimated them and nor did they raise their game. I remember clearly the match facts at the time. Their goal was their only shot on target in the whole 90 minutes. Kirkland was unsighted so let the weak shot in and we only failed to win because of poor finishing - Mellor's header from about 2 yards being the obvious example
  23. All of them - do pay attention He's hopeless - it's just funny how people seem to think we've achieved a major coup signing this has-been. My City fan mates were well chuffed they'd got rid of him and incredulous that we'd re-signed him I still say he won't score more than 3 goals this season - and please don't bring up how many disallowed goals he's had as they don't count I'm really hoping Rafa doesn't give him a contract and we can use the £25K a week were wasting on Fowler on someone whose best years are in front of him
  24. Robbie's so painfully slow he couldn't run rings round my grandad unfortunately
  25. .......and his genius at finshing peaked about 7-8 years ago
