Jesus Christ this comes up so often it's unreal. I was around at the time and the Kop had an irritating habit of joining in with the big pop songs of the day in the pre-match singing - She Loves You etc, by the Beatles - and YNWA just took hold as the most anthemic of the lot, plus being sung by a Liverpool group made up of Liverpool supporters. Celtic hijacked it way down the line. I wouldn't be surprised if it was after we knocked them out of the Cup Winners Cup at Anfield in the 65-66 season and they heard proper singing at a football match for once Indeed you are laughably wrong I remember Ajax fans singing it in the 70s too, when I was in Holland

He scored a great goal, but his overall play was very patchy I thought. No better than when he plays on the right
-
The trouble is, Warnock was originally LM and he doesn't have a proper full-back's innate knowledge of correct positional sense He's always AWOL and leaving loads of room on the left flank. When Pellegrino was getting monstered when he played for us, like Southampton away, it was usually because he was having to edge further left to cover the prairie that Warnock left behind on his wanderings In short, Warnock's no good at full-back and is always one reckless challenge and needless penalty waiting to happen

Not many people here really give a flying one about cricket. Like rugby it is basically a minority sport and when I've been on my numerous trips to Australia, it's clear that the sport is much, much bigger there. Just about every England cricket player could wander through central Liverpool and 90% of people wouldn't have a clue who they were

I may be wrong, but I don't recall their "sensational" U-21 teams winning the Carling Cup. At least our reserve team a couple of years ago actually got to the final against Chelsea, knocking out Middlesbrough and Spurs along the way
-
The same Boro side that beat Chelsea a few weeks ago

I was doing my nut about our corners. Gerrard finds it completely impossible to lift the ball over the first defender and bloody Pennant was doing the same. Then, late in the game, we had 2 or 3 corners and we tried the 100% unsuccessful ploy of short corners. They are a total waste of good attacking opportunities and I honestly can't remember the last time a goal came from a short corner, so why the bloody hell do our players persist in taking them?
-
He spent the entire first half particularly continually going on about our away form - I swear he never drew breath - and scarecely mentioned teh game in progress. Whilst I was watching us dominate proceedings he seemed to think we were playing crap and said the players looked like they lacked confidence etc, which was the opposite to what I saw. He is indeed a disgrace and I've seldom been more annoyed by a prattling sidekick to a main commentator. The guy just won't shut up and spouts complete b******s.

Warnock's simply not good enough. For "gets stuck in" read "makes ridicuous challenges guaranteed to get him a yellow card a game"
-
He's another average prem player that no top team would seriously be interested in. He's found his level at Man City, ditto Nolan with Bolton
-
Carragher's a zillion miles from being world class. Alonso has the potential, but only Gerrard in that trio could realistically be called world class. In fact both Pennant and Bellamy were on record as saying they were boyhood reds long before we signed them, so I don't see how Nolan's more of a true red
-
He hasn't exactly been tearing up trees this season in the premiership. I don't think the fact that he's a local lad and a fan compensates for his not being good enough at the highest level. Decent player and all that, but he's not going to improve us Like Fowler I suppose?
-
alonso - just not strong enough for the prem

He was, but the knee-jerk merchants seem to have latched on to him as scapegoat whenever we lose. -
I think too much is made of the captaincy role these days. Any player worth his salt is going to give his all come what may and doesn't need inspiring, cajoling or whatever a captain's supposed to do. At the end of the day, all they really do is wear an armband and call "heads" or "tails"

Not sure how moving from Formby to the Wirral makes any difference? Anyway, that apart, he was hopeless yesterday - as he has been nearly all season. It was good to see Riise give old Stevie Me a b******ing
-
But it didn't work quite so well for Man U at Copenhagen and Southend!
-
Yes but it's not a true fast - they eat normally once the sun's gone down, so it's not so much a fast as only eating at certain times of the day. Should have no effect whatsoever on fitness levels and strength etc
-
At the time I recall allegations of Juventus officials turning up at his house with a bag containing $100K US in cash (a lot of money then) to persuade him to sign, when we had been favourites and were doing everything by the book.
-
He's lethal in the Carling Cup, I'll grant you that. We'll take him out of his box for the Birmingham game next week I'm sure and then put him back again. I'm jesting of course. I actually think its good that we've got back-up like him for the lesser games so we can rest Crouch, Kuyt etc
-
He was in those days - and I think the first goal, blasted in with his left foot past Schmeichel's near post, was one of the best I've seen - but the old boy's had it now - well past it and lost his goalscoring instincts - which is inevitable, but thanks for the memories etc See what I mean?
-
For "with a different non-paranoid perspective" read "with a Man Utd perspective" presumably?
-
Fair's fair - I always give credit where it's due. Fowler was amazing in those days and it's how I like to remember him. The glacially slow, past it player we now have on our books is just not the same player Strange isn't it? I always thought you spouted self-important s*** and we actual agree on a topic. Never thought I'd see the day
-
What you mean is that it's well-known that he's a Liverpool supporter which will never do, as he won't kiss a*** in the way Fergiescum has become used to
-
Since when have the French been a race? They, like us, are a nationality made up of many races It's not racist to criticise someone's nationality - by definition. It's nationalist.
-
Believe me, they went 26-27 years (can't remember which) without winning the league and it wasn't mentioned so much in that period as Liverpool's current 16-year drought - but then I suppose football was only invented when Sky started showing it and the daftly-named Premiership began
