Sami turns 33 in the next few months and this will most probably be his last season as guaranteed first choice, whilst Carra is 29 next time so he probably only has another 4 years or so in front of him. That's all down to form and fitness of course. Danny Agger will most likely take Sami's place next season, maybe even this season, and Gabby will come in, all things being considered, when Carra can't perform at the same level. Jack will only have those two in front of him then - unless we've signed some super duper wonder kid or a player becomes available and who is too good to turn down.

Hand on heart I was excited about him joining us, he was a world class player and the type of player we'd been lacking. I thought that his arrival wuld push us into winning the title again. Being 17 and a wool, his previous run in with the Mancs didn't matter that much to me, to be honest. I just wanted us to win the league and have the best players.

Another point here, if we do indeed sign Aurelio, then he is another option for central midfield as he has played there in the past. I get a feeling that may be part of Rafa's thinking on the subject.
