As usual blind prejudice and ignorance are allowed to colour people's judgement. Just admit it, Rooney is a wonderfully gifted player whose talent, alongside that of Steven Gerrard's, that mental Swede has managed to squander. I feel really sorry for the lad this morning, all the squad will be devastated, but Rooney more than most. He's very young and very impetuous. He has a childish love of football that unlike most of our other talent, successive trainers havent been able or tried to coach out of him. You dont get the same approach from Brazilians, over coaching and reliance on tactics/formations are neutralizing this game to a point where players like Rooney are exceptions Brilliant lad, inspriational to those who play with him, but needs to grow up and be a bit more wise to those who are going to try to get him sent off As for that git of a manager, 24m of sterile, unimaginative over cautious fear ridden tactics. I hope this crucifies his career because he deserves nothing more

Is America good at anything anymore?

Team US ? Physically strong, well organised and committed. Will usually qualify due to regional grouping but will rarely progress outside the group stages without developing tactically and embracing a bit more creativity. In fact you could say a carbon copy of Team Ingerlund circa 1970 to 2003 now in terms of starting wars they cant finish and voting in congenitally insane presidents they are certainly in a league of their own -
On the other side of the Parry love fest there are some other salient points to be concerned about a) The new anfield project is still mired in bureaucracy and the longer the delays and the greater the uncertainty, the more costs will increase and the harder it will become to secure full funding for the project b) The academy has yet to produce a crop of youngsters readily identifiable as the future of the club c) Despite months and months of rumours and changes in advisors we still seem eons away from securing new investment at a level which would secure a) whilst at the same time allow us to compete in a market which is becoming increasingly competitive These are the fundamental areas which concern me on an ongoing basis. Rick Parry may not be the cause of these difficulties but has his handling of them effective enough Then there have been issues in the past, behind us now but still worth consideration. The handling of the Evans / Houllier transition. The shortcomings of the Stevie Mac transfer saga, Michael Owens debacle, Steven Gerrard etc Has our marketing performance and merchandising been as sharp as it could / should considering we are supposed to be one of the finest clubs in Europe. I could go on and blame Parry for all sorts of other things fair or not fair including outbreak of war and norway winning the european song contest. I wont because on balance there have been some major plusses too such as the recruitment of Benitez but I dont think scapegoating or ritually disembowelling those who question our CEO as this thread seems to imply is particularly helpful either As far as I'm concerned Rick Parry has been sound but hardly sexy and there are occasions when I'm left wondering whether the current management set up is a bit too much like an old boys club

yeah I know.... 2 mill a year is a real bitch to live on Wonder if Rafa's told him he'll be playing on the right wing next season

International duty is something that works for you and against you. Success on the international stage boosts a player's value, his development and self esteem - we've just experienced the downside thats all. What i suspect irritates most people is the fact that we don't have 8m of a transfer kitty to replace a striker whose not flavour of the month We will have Cisse for awhile yet, maybe when he returns to the first team squad and with the new players coming in this summer (a natural winger on the right for example) we will see a very different player maybe even one with a value closer to the 14m price tag we got him for. Now this has happened I think he deserves that chance.

He took a long time to score, there's a certain lack of physical presence and pace so I'm still doubtful. On the other hand he's got good technique, some good movement and a brain up there so thats enough to persevere with. I dont believe he can justify a regular starting position purely on support play but he's only had one season, perhaps the next season will be a big one for him and answer all those doubts. Maybe even during the world cup, bag a few goals who knows

Yeah lets all take the piss out of arsenal Very classy not dull witless or unoriginal whatsoever

in the words of chairman Raf - I dont want the best leg I want the leg that fits the table

Thatcher only partially destroyed Liverpool in fairness, the city council led by that equally unspeakable git Hatton made sure what was left sunk with it

Ive said this before and I'll say it again, West Ham are a real club, good board, good manager, and a production line of young players that has worked for years, they play the game the right way and their fans know their stuff. I dont support them but I do respect them. They did a leeds and came back - says it all

I hope jose remains just as he is He really screwed up big time on saturday and if his ego wont allow him to admit it then long may it continue If he wont listen he wont learn
-
is he interested in anger management

its not about money though, its about performance, Capturing Benitez if it was down to Parry was inspirational but other issues such as investment and the building of a new stadium seem to me to be on a very slow burn (lets not mention transfer dealings)

and if Cisse bags a hat trick and MOTM award aren't we all going to look very stupid
-
was it ever 'best' or was it 'most knowledgeable'? The Guardian believe its 'most deluded' - apparently we tend to bombard them with aggresive mails when they take the pith out of us
-
Terry to Anfield? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
-
They'll freeze and we'll win comfortably Though having said that what West Ham have acheived since doing 'a leeds' a couple of seasons back is real credit to the set up down there Could be a genuine classic

Very very talented player in dire need of a personality transplant. He's been one of mourinho's few success stories career wise, unlike swp the lad from charlton whoses name escapes me and a few others
