  7. Its possible but not probable The thing to concentrate on is now the squad is strong enough to make a serious challenge. If its not this year it will be next and thats enough for me
  8. Book sales Delia Smith !!!!!!
  9. The enigma that is Harry
  10. I swear that one African State's anthem , (maybe Madagascar) sounds like the theme tune to Monty Python - not being funny or rascist but I'm sure I'm right As for ours, I sing it but then I'm comfortable with being English, I dont have any baggage or issues with nationalism, can be a positive or a negative.
  11. not the most conclusive arguement that, it being a team game
  12. He has good touch for a big man y'know
  13. Gerrard is every bit as good as Dalglish no doubt in my mind. In a world of hyperbole you really can't overrate his ability. I've followed this club for forty odd years and if I ever see a better player in a Liverpool shirt I will indeed be a lucky man Vision, passing, awareness, physical presence, movement, technique and an ability to strike from any distance or play in any position, sorry I know for many of my generation this is heresy but this lad gets my vote
  14. Which is a bit of a pity really, never mind, perhaps we could put in a cheeky bid for John Terry
  15. Can we deduce that Allardyce would have been the table lamp and not the sofa then yup, though there was a bit of a blip on the radar when I witnessed his side carve us up very nicely earlier on and I remember him telling his players that they shouldn't be afraid of our name
  16. More reassuring and puts a better perspective on it but there have nevertheless been a couple of high profile deals that we have baulked at, Alves and Simao for example are one's I'm aware of and in a way Owen too, though that would have been daylight robbery had it ever materialised. I'm not trying to be the harbinger of doom, this summers transfers have actually for the first time really given us the 'options' Benitez has so often referred to and once we get the balance right we will be a significant threat to Chelsea, but I'm not so happy with progress off field. The preparatory work done becomes a side issue if we are not getting anywhere with the meat of it , progress with one doesnt necessarily mean progress with the other. Matters, at least as far as funding is concerned will now come to a head one way or another, then its down to how well the club manages the build if it ever comes to that. Bringing it back to the original topic, it might become too much to expect fresh investment coming in with these significant hurdles still left unless of course the nature of that investment is total and control of the club is handed over. I don't see that coming and don't see it as a problem provided the new stadium goes ahead and the build is managed well.

  19. Wrong the class system has been in decay since the end of the First World War, its not yet completely dead lurking in the Lords but became practically irrelevant when Thatcher and Tebbit took over its last great bastion of real power almost three decades ago To say that the honours system has held Britain back is facile, back from fulfilling what potential exactly?. The class system has been replaced by something much more odious, corporate capitalism. Its the likes of Rupert Murdoch that wield the real power and influence in this society not the Royal family, or the old school. Anyway, I'm sure Steven couldnt give a bugger

  21. is this guesswork or does the mail journalist ring the respective chairman and ask them all the pertinent questions. Besides which if we appear skint we are less likely to be fleeced - or so the theory would go not if we are constantly outbid in the market by clubs desperate to get on a par with us
  22. Birmingham saved the little pricks career, how dare they refuse to sell the little ingrate cheaply
  23. Oh s*** Why bother he's gone now and we are left with mclaren wup dee do
  24. Blatantly obvious that you know absolutely nothing about football if you really believe that tripe youve just posted Rooney lost his temper and paid the price that I'm not arguing with, but quite frankly to suggest his talent is all hype is incredulous I dont mind a constructive critique of players but mind numbing generalisations of that order are an embarrassment
