  1. These were my thoughts with the new contract. Get a new number one, he becomes number two on a five year contract. If he's not happy with that he can be sold rather than losing for free. This is the only scenario that makes even a small amount of sense. Although anyone who wants to pay money for him would certainly be brave.
  2. Absolutely, it could have been stopped. Basic decision making for a keeper is to stay on your feet for as long as you can. I think he thought Fellaini had scored and went on his knees in disappointment and then he was doomed.
  3. United scored with their first shot on target. That sums up the all huff, no puff and a broken back door.

  7. Get Coutinho on this thread so he can learn how to hit a shot from range. Outstanding stuff.
  8. Not with Mignolet in goal. Any poacher would score as many as he concedes. He reminds me of Mike Hooper who would get games when Bruce Grobbelaar was unavailable. He can keep goal but when he is in there every game he doesn't command at all. Both a superior keeper plus a goal scorer or there's really no point the way things are now.
  9. just added an extra player
  10. It's not the defenders, it must be so disheartening watching your teammates score two great goals and then your keeper gets beaten twice at the near post with their first two chances. Mignolet is so easy to score against, it's embarrassing.

  12. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned Pep Guardiola that the greatest challenge he will face in the Premier League is the busy fixture schedule. The German also advises his Spanish rival that the weather in Britain is "not great" but adds the food is "much better than everybody said". Guardiola, 44, who will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, said he plans to work in England next. He has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United. Klopp said that the amount of domestic cup games had surprised him following his move to England in October. "The number of games is the biggest difference," he said. "When I came here, I didn't know there were two rounds [legs] in the semi-final of the Capital One Cup. Klopp, 48, said he had received messages of congratulations from friends after his side beat Stoke 1-0 in last Tuesday's League Cup semi-final first leg. "I had people in Germany, saying: 'Yeah, you're in the final again!'" recalled the former Borussia Dortmund boss. "Idiots!" With 12 players out injured, Klopp named an inexperienced team for Friday's 2-2 FA Cup third-round draw at Exeter. He has indicated he will field a similar side for next week's replay. "In Germany, when you tell people that if you draw in the FA Cup, you play again, they say: 'What?' Here you have penalties and extra time, but only after the second game," he said. "That's the thing, it's the number of games... football, football, football." But he insisted that Guardiola is "so experienced" he will cope. "I'm sure he will buy a few players and have a good team... 35 players or whatever," said the former Mainz boss.

  16. If he has no goals and one hamstring we should recall him, we have to get the numbers up somewhere. Might as well get them in the treatment room. Compared to Grujic, very expensive. Compared to Lallana, quite cheap. Compared to Benteke, a bargain.
  17. Will be interesting to see if Grujic and Markovic can get in the team together next season. I read on talksport that Fenerbahce want to sign Markovic permanently for £7.3million.
  18. OK by me, I know what I saw and it was intended. Agree to disagree, it was a good goal.
  19. It's definitely a pass, he sees Ibe and his foot is angled to flick it on. A little fortunate to go straight to Ibe but not ever a shot. The replay shows it was definitely intended.

  21. Moments before the ref gave a foul against Lovren for coming in from behind against Carroll. Then no foul for coming in behind Moreno. Either both a foul or neither a foul.
  22. I'd like to think if he does it, he gets on with it quietly in the background. He clearly understands the game and can motivate players, with Klopp pulling the tactical strings I can definitely see it.

  24. I might be wrong but I think what he is saying is while he is at home now during the MLS season he's going to move around clubs - perhaps visits during coaching sessions - to pick up experience while covering matches as a pundit also. It's certainly not 100% clear though. Like you say, Klopp will have his own ideas I'm sure and if they both want it, hopefully his experience and knowledge will be of benefit to the players.
