  1. Obviously Milan but an early goal at Anfield and it's all square. We'll create chances next week probably but desperately need to take them. Cannot afford to have a repeat of Benfica last year.
  2. Rafa obviously going for the Bruno Cheyrou effect at Stamford bridge with old Bolo! No one expected that, love it. COME ON REDS
  3. It'll all be a bit irrelevent in a week's time though. No one will care what their manager said or how much petty bitching there was as long as they get through. Hopefully it'll be us rejoicing next week not Chelsea.
  4. Rafa's reply is fantastic http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ool/6588609.stm
  5. We played 3 at the back against Juve because a) we were confident of shutting them out all game and Gerrard and Didi were out injured so our midfield consisted of Xabi having played 30 mins of football in 4 months, Igor Biscan, Nunez plus Riise an Finnan as wing backs but effectively playing part of a back 5.

    Nerves

Exams all this week, f***ing b******s timing or what. But dunno what I'm more nervous about!

    Reina

The funny thing is in discussions about Reina, our back 4 get all the credit. But when it comes to talking about the best defenders in the league - they're not mentioned at all.

    Bellamy

I like Bellamy because he's the only one of our forwards with a bit of pace and one of the few players who is a snarling, snidey c*** who gives his all and is an a*** to play against (and with probably sometimes). Given that Kuyt and Bellamy can both play 'wide', all 4 (Crouch, Kuyt, Voronin and Bellamy) are more '2nd strikers' and the biggest areas of concern in the side are wide and getting a goalscorer up front, it'll be really interesting to see who we sign.
  9. Chelsea winning at Newcastle and Arsenal by no means a certainty, infact I'd back Arsenal to atleast hold them to a draw. Mind you Mancs still have to goto Woodison and Man s***ty, hopefully both will up their game for that one.
  10. I dont see how we can keep Carson to be honest. He's experienced a season of first team football in the league and done pretty well by all accounts. Sitting on the bench, even if it is at a top club would be a step back for him. Plus his stock is the highest it's been in his career and will probably demand a decent fee or maybe another loan move.

    Momo

He was awful before his injury too IMO. I can only think of the community shield and Barca games this season where he has played anywhere near the level he showed last year. While everyone else started s*** at the start of the season Momo got a lot of praise but to be honest all I saw was a headless chicken running around. Maybe people will disagree. Truth is, he had an excellent season last year and the balance we had with Kewell, Momo, Xabi and Stevie was excellent. This year Xabi, Gerrard both started slowly, left side was all over the place and Momo started poorly too and gone on from there. Added to the fact that he's still very young and had to contend with injury, I'm hoping this season will be forgotten as 2nd season syndrome and he gets back to some form against Chelsea (if he plays, which I think he will at least away from home) and next season. He's a limited and raw player in terms of what he can do but when he does it right he's a real asset to the squad. When he wins the ball and keeps it very simple with passing options around him, he's great, he can really bulldoze a team. I think he's maybe in the position Crouch was 12 months ago. Excellent first season but then there was a lot of skepticism about his ability to carry that on and add an extra bit of class to his game, which Crouch has done. People were then thinking Crouch would be eased out of the side by the class of Kuyt and Bellamy and would be a player used in specialist sitatuons, but that hasn't really happened. Momo has the chance to show what he's made of next year.

    Reina

Need to sort out our defending at set pieces too
  13. With the recent form of Pennant and a lack of left sided options, I wonder if we may see Gerrard out on the left for the away leg at least? He did alright there against Chelsea earlier in the season and had a couple of decent chances. It'll depend on whether we want to play 2 strikers down there or not and whether Arbeloa is a cert to play or not. If he is then it'll come down to a toss up between Pennant's form or Riise's big match experience I think. Many possibilities
  14. I dont know too much about Arsenal but it just seems like a case of waiting 12 months to see what situation they find themselves in and deciding what to do then. If they're in the same boat again next season and fighting to finish 4th then they might think it's time to sell up and get some extra investment on the pitch. Kinda like a reverse to us as they have the stadium and may end up realising they dont have enough money for the stadium + sustained investment into the team wheras we were the opposite.

    Team for Wigan

For wigan I think we'll see Reina Riise Agger Sami Finnan Gonzalez Zenden Alonso Pennant Fowler Crouch
  16. Still cant believe he managed to stick 4 past us. Brings back memories of Kevin Lisbie's hatrick before quickly dissapearing into obscurity

    Reina

Well done to our defence is right. No well done for Reina though. He's not that good cos he plays behind a great defence (even though Neville is better than Finnan, Ferdinand/Terry better than Carra, Vidic always better than Agger and Riise is crap).
  18. Pepe Reina has now kept more clean sheets in his first two seasons (league) than Petr Cech did in his
  19. Doesnt it do the opposite? I thought Dein was the only one in favour of selling?

  21. How many penalties to away teams has there been in the last 5 years at Anfield? Genuine question if anyone knows.

  23. I get the feeling he wants them to stay but stop talking about it till after the champions league games
  24. I agree which is why I said this earlier "We either need to improve Pennant onto the next level or fill the gaps in his play on the other wing. I think the latter is more likely but that doesnt mean Pennant doesn't have a big role to play in the squad."
