There was never a chance of me going to Athens so forgive my ignorance in this because I havent followed the whole story. But I dont understand what people are protesting about. Is it because many season ticket holders who went to 6 home CL games (like FC holders) but also go away in the league didnt get tickets - or - that so many tickets went to corporate suits? Obviously the two are closely related and not mutually exclusive, but judging by some posts on here and other forums it seems there's a lot of "I've been going for X years, been to X number of games this season and am disillusioned with the club" etc. The real issue here is surely that almost half of our measly allocation is shipped off so genuine fans cannot get a ticket. Not just the final but also other away games during the league season. It seems that's getting diluted with a debate about loyalty, isn't it? Maybe i'm seeing it wrong.

Such a thread should never be allowed again.

Made me chuckle though when Hansen took the piss out of Lineker when talking about winning league titles If we stay in the title race next year we'll feature a lot more. To be fair, barring 2 games (against Mancs and arsenal) our league campaign since the derby draw has been un eventful.

I remember after the west ham (A) game everyone was saying that we'd be back in the title race if we could get within 8 points of the mancs by the time we played them. For a brief period it was "on". But then we drew with everton and lost to newcastle. From then on our league season seemed to be over and our attentions looked fully focussed on securing 4th but importantly beating barcelona. After that West ham game we've dropped 20 points by my reckoning, with a weakened team playing a few of those games. Would've been great to see how the season would've panned out had we beaten the blues**** and then put our chances away in february. League season seemed to end there.

Hard to predict the starting line up to be honest. Does he want to start with Xabi? Pennant? Is Kewell fit enough to start? Arebloa or Riise at LB? A lat 4-4-2 or Gerrard off the striker? Play both Gerrard and Pennant? Lots of possibilities.
-
That's up to the manager to decide. We have so many possibilities in terms of starting formations and line up (although I'd say 7/8 of 11 positions are certs) that it's pretty damn hard to predict how we'll start. Rafa threw everyone off by starting Zenden against Chelsea and Gerrard in the middle, nothing is a surprise anymore.

Newcastle caretaker boss Nigel Pearson on Michael Owen's injury: "I saw him in the medical room after the game. He was chatting, and there is no problem at all. "He has mild concussion, but it is nothing too serious and he is fine. "He is in fantastic nick, and I have no qualms about him at all. He will have a headache tonight, but he will be fine."
-
It's not necesarilly about stamina and lasting 90 minutes but having the sharpness and speed of movement and thought that is often lost for a short while after a long term injury. It takes some players a few games to get that back and we (Rafa) has to assess whether it's more useful having a less than 100% fit Kewell as opposed to a fresh and ready Zenden, Gonzalez etc Although, if he starts and goes off injured Milan will s*** themselves

Blaming everyone but himself, what a prick. Good to know he'll be watching the game in Athens closely, he could do with learning what a good manager is like. Thank f*** he got them relegated today
-
If Rafa thinks he's our best option, he plays. End of. Whether he is match fit enough or not we'll see. Certainly a place of the bench it seems.

Barely lost a header all game, either as striker or importantly centre back. Immense from heskey and deserved every bit of that skipper's armband at the end today.

Feeling gutted today now because we all know today is his last game for us. Would love a final swansong in Athens but his best chance of playing is through injury to others or penalties - hopefully neither happens and we win anyway. Growing up in Liverpool as a kid in the 90s, absolutely idolised the fella. Still do. My brother who was never into football took the piss out of me for my hero worship but we all did it. We all wanted to be like Robbie, we all got a buzz everytime he touched the ball. "Go robbie go robbie go"

It's hilarious. Well in Rafa

Which was the same last season after a very poor opening 6 weeks or so. It's great being able to pick up points for 80% of the season but if you start poorly it's almost useless. Just wish we could get the ball rolling earlier next season and start the new season with some momentum, CL qualifiers or not. That said, 2 european cups in 3 years is legendary. A really special achievment if we can pull it off.

Is RvN the best goalscorer in world football

Owen's record in the premiership and Europe doesn't match van Nistelrooy's. About 150 in 300 for Michael, something like 90 in 140 for horseface which is remarkable. Dunno how well he's been doing since leaving the mancs mind you. -
On the face of it they were a little short in depth but t wasn't crazy to suggest Rooney + Ronaldo would imrpove (atleast in terms of producing for the team), Saha has played more games earlier in the season, Scholes came back, Evra and Vidic got over their initial baptism and as you say Neville and Giggs upped their game. Thats most of their side improved without a single signing. Add £15m Carrick to that and a better central midfield than O'Shea and Fletcher (which still finished above us) and they did what they had to.

What's with this moral bulls***. If Rafa thinks he's the best option for the left in Athens then that's what goes. He will probably start against Charlton and we'll get a better idea of his match sharpness and what he can do with the ball, as he'll see plenty of it.
-
A lot of the time he's our most positive player, trying to get forward and asking for the ball but he looks like a rabbit caught in headlights and sometimes looks s*** scared and clueless on the ball. Whether Kewell is fit next season or not I think we need a new left winger.
-
No idea how good he is to be honest. Needs a season of regular football I think.

I was numb during the shoot out and a little bit after the immediate reaction of joy after the shoot out. Just total disbelief really. Back in August of every year, we dream of nights like this. This is what Liverpool football club exists for. Cherish it.

Well done ladies and gents. Did the club proud again. On nights like this it's all about collective will and an absolute desire to not lose. Once again everyone showed up. Well in
