Big Ron, RIP, was Captain when I first got hooked on the Reds. Fast forward 40+ years and I’m at an event here in Belfast with The Saint and Ian Callaghan. Chatting to the two of them afterwards and mentioned that when I took Boots Jnr 1 to his first game, we had went up to the ground before the match. Outside the ground this mountain of a man walked towards us. I clocked who it was right away but my lad had no idea who he was. That was Ron Yeats!! Kid had no idea who he was (but quickly sorted that) I told St John that I was too star struck to speak and he said, “Oh big Ronnie would have loved a chat”. Opportunity missed. RIP Captain
