  11. I'm really surprised the club hasn't mentioned the fact Fab is injured if it is true. Given the amount of rubbish talked about our players since the end of the season I'll believe it either when the club announce it or he is shown on crutches.

  13. Whoever is signed as back up striker (if anyone is) they will play more than that, at home against the weaker teams I think Rafa will look to go 442 with Stevie G dropping into midfield, their will hopefully be CL group games when we have already qualified, games where Torres is rested, carling cup, FA cup. Plus a lot of appearances of the bench, my worry about Owen would be whether he would actually be fit or have picked up an injury when actually needed.
  14. How many times has that been said about the USA though, the world cup in 94 was meant to be the turning point for football in the states but it wasn't. The reason football in its current format will never be able to compete with the likes of baseball, american football is that tv companies wont give it the required exposure due to the lack of breaks in the game to allow adverts to be shown. They now that the advert revenue for the other sports will always be higher because of the number of adverts they can show in those sports compared to footie.
  15. We shouldn't touch him with a barge pole, far too injury prone and nowhere near the player he was.

  18. The whole issue is a very difficult one as I think the idea of fan ownership is an admirable one but I think its one that unfortunately isn't workable, certainly not if we want to comment in the tranfer market. I'm no financial expert but I don't think the models suggested are really viable, of course the other issue is who runs the club, would every member get a vote for say the CEO, board members, financial director etc? If so, it could lead to the best people not getting the job just the most popular which could cause all kinds of problems. I think the best we can hope for and something which I think would be a step forward, is for the owner of the club to help raise finances for a new staduim to sell a percentage of the club via shares to fans, restricting the number of shares an individual can buy. As well as guaranteeing fan representation on the board. To be honest I'm not sure we will see either happening but would be more likely to get the 2nd one, before we see club ownership by the fans and would probably be my preferred option.

  20. Well you haven't swatted me and perhaps you should learn to think before you give your responses and actually try to add something to a debate, your one line replies are neither witty or interesting.
  21. To you maybe but as a member or ex member of the PTS who paid £55 a year for being a member of it, it wasn't free, i think it is very relevant and if you want it to be fair to all why not do away with season ticketst* and make tickets available to all based on a loyalty scheme. It may adversely affect you but it would be fair to all, that is the natural extension to your argument. Why not show some loyalty to the members of the scheme who bought tickets regularly and if people aren't using change the rules so they lose their membership and others could then join it, I'm sorry but your argument and that of Ian Ayre rides rough shod over supporters who have been members of the PTS for years. Oh and I'm an OOTer and I know other members of the PTs who were OOTers as well, so its not benefiting them or me. * I am not suggesting they actually do that or think its a good idea.
  22. Ha ha you must really think long and hard before you come up with such well reasoned responses.

  24. So you don't think that it might put people off joining SOS when people are jumped on and told to f off and stop hiding behind their keyboards etc when they dare to criticise SOS. Its happened since it was created and put me off joining for a while but the current owners managed to convince me to join SOS with their actions and despite the cr@p you get off supporters of SOS if you dare be critical. Why would I worry about the image of Ireland, I'm not Irish...
  25. Good stuff that, it will be interesting what he comes back with.
