  1. The squad depth issue is what’s really bothered me about conceding late goals in last 2 games. If we’d beaten West Brom we need 1 win from 3 games, instead of still needing 4 points. That would have left it a lot easier to engage in squad management this weekend. Equally if we’d managed to keep a clean sheet last night then we are under less pressure in the return leg and can again juggle things around a little. But unfortunately we don’t have that luxury now. I just sometimes think this taking players off early is a little bit of a false economy. Salah was obviously shattered when he went off last night but as soon as he comes off they immediately push up and go on the front foot and our easy outlet down the flank vanishes. Similar situation happened at the weekend once we took off Mane and Firmino. Leads to a complete shift in the dynamic of our games.
  2. Ah. Well hopefully he may be reconsidering... or City go for someone else.
  3. That based on the Guardian piece? If so I wouldn’t completely give up hope. Written by Jamie Jackson the chief Manc who doesn’t even mention our interest - presents it as a battle between the two Manc clubs. City also being linked with Thiago from Bayern as their main target very recently, Wiegl from Dortmund and of course Can. Plus they are in an ongoing battle with their city rivals for Fred (although the other lot have apparently moved ahead on that one). And if we do miss out worth remembering we’ve also been linked with Seri, Ndidi and Neves for the same role as well as a range of other younger central midfielders in recent times.
  4. And also said he’d give himself a mark of 11. I’d imagine that may skew the average.
  5. I’ve not seen Cardiff play but I thought it was interesting that he was apparently made take on a defensive midfield role there. I’d have had him down as more box to box or even attacking midfield. Guessing that was a specific request from us.
  6. This means Moore? Klopp's voice track jars on that video several times... it's not in keeping with the imagery or sentiment.
  7. We’ve certainly briefed that he’s not our target this summer (as things stand). I’d say that’s because someone else is but I suppose another possibility is we want Lemar’s price lowered.
  8. We’ve been linked with Seri and Ndidi as well. Definitely think a No. 6 is one of our priorities this summer.
  9. Didn't see the incident until a few mins ago. Had read the reaction today thinking Juve were going way over the top and I was expecting it to be pretty clear cut penalty based on what I'd read this morning. Actually, think Juve have a point... that was incredibly soft. I'd say Benatia got done for the hands in the back as his push movement is almost comically staged... but I don't think he made much by way of actual contact.
  10. That’s fantastic. I’d say Woodburn is raging he wasn’t allowed to go on loan in Jan.
  11. Found their rationale particularly interesting... "The goal had originally been awarded on the day to Christian Eriksen, but after taking the player's testimony into account and reviewing the match footage, a three-person panel agreed that the final touch on the ball belonged to Kane." Liked the reaction from Gary Lineker - "I can think of half a dozen for the national side I might claim. I was only 10 yards away from Platt's volley against Belgium if that's near enough? Could yet be England's leading scorer."
  12. Still think a lot of this is about him playing as the midfield anchor the whole time (and the money). Don’t think Klopp agrees with him when he has all his options available.
  13. Being greedy, that drove me mad too at the time. Was an easy ball as well but he tried to go it alone. Got the sense his confidence was absolutely flying at that point
  14. Yep sad news, only 61. RIP
  15. Well there’s ample proof of them being unable to read games. This is just an extension of that problem.
  16. Whatever the argument for or against his individual professional qualities, we are missing a body. Our squad is too small in numbers (particularly in attack) and as we approach a crucial period with games coming thick and fast we could do with some relief.
  17. That Sky keep using Gallagher is really annoying as well. Practically every controversial call that hasn’t gone our way he has made out to be the correct decision.
  18. I think Solanke is going to be an excellent player. There’s definitely something there. Reckon he’ll be a real physical handful in a few years. Just not entirely sure how he fits into this Liverpool attack.
  19. This content is not viewable to guests.
  20. Piece in the Echo the other day suggesting our interest in Allison is diminishing due to Karius’s form (and the price Roma are after). Some more speculation that he could sign new contract with Roma - his agent posted something about their ‘growing partnership’.
  21. Mirror saying Sessegnon would prefer a move to Spurs. So as you were.
  22. I’m useless with emojis (particular when posting on a tablet) but that one deserves :applause
  23. Only way he and Guardiola get mentioned in the same piece?
  24. Apparently, since Allardyce took over Everton have had the fewest shots and fewest shots on target in the league.
