Agree with depth, agree with the need for some level of experience, I’d just like whoever we sign for this role to have significant pace. My litmus test is whether opposition change their set up if this squad member comes on for one of our main 3 players. If they’re still pushing up 10 yards then that’s not what we need.

Don’t think Fekir is being looked at for the wide positions. I know he can potentially do a job there but I don’t think that’s why we’re after him. I suspect that Klopp wants more dynamism through midfield and players who can break the lines. Think Fekir is being looked at as the tip of the midfield spear in that sense and potentially cover for Bobby if required. Could see us setting up a little like Napoli did last season in some games - one holding midfielder, three attackers and two midfielders who bomb on through the middle. The key difference being Napoli played 3 at the back and used their wing backs for width.

He’s a decent player but don’t think he has the pace we need for that position. One of our front players comes off and Shaqiri replaces them. Do the opposition automatically step up 10 yards or hold their line? Supposedly Bayern wouldn’t let him leave but he wanted to come to us. Salah’s agent has since denied this and told AS they need to get better sources. Would be nice if Mane’s agent did the same...

Goal are saying that he “is one of a number of targets under consideration as Jurgen Klopp seeks a pacy, multi-functional forward player.” Which is exactly what we should be after this summer. For me I’d say this is as vital a signing as a new goalie. We can’t be reliant on 3 brilliant forwards with no suitable replacements should injuries/ fatigue set in again. It changes the whole way we play when one of them comes off/ isn’t available. Some reports in Italy suggesting that Malcom has opted to sign for Inter. Suggestion there were also offers on the table from us, PSG and Dortmund. Seems like an excellent player but he seems to favour playing on the right (being predominantly left footed). Given Mane can also cover Salah in that position someone who can play naturally on the left would probably be a slightly better option.

From what you’ve heard is he first choice? Or that we’re just exploring the possibility?

Bild seem to be reporting that his tests came back, 26 of the 30 tests carried out were positive for concussion.
