  1. Pretty sure they said the same thing about 2+ months ago as well. Interesting that it comes only a couple of days after his agent said no deal had been done with Real Madrid.
  2. Most of the reports only say that the agent is coming to Liverpool today and that a medical will follow if agreement is reached. So it's interesting what isn't in the Ed Aarons denial! In other news, reports in Italy saying that Spurs, Roma and us have bid for Justin Kluivert from Ajax. €25m or thereabouts but Ajax are holding out for €30m. While Malcolm's in the middle (pre-empting the pun!) of a transfer tussle between us and Chelsea after his agent met with both clubs. We've also been watching PSV's Steven Bergwijn at practically every game since the winter break apparently.
  3. Think so. Wasn’t that the same summer Purslow was telling fans at one of the friendlies that we were getting Yaya Toure?
  4. We also signed Aurelio there on a free transfer after he was released by us! Rafa was only offering him a ‘pay as you play’ contract. Rafa went and he got a 2 year deal.
  5. You have to look at the comments coming from Bale and Ronaldo post the final on Sat.
  6. Captain Lovren, Captain Lallana or Captain Moreno next season so!

  8. He converted to playing as a No. 6 last season so that’ll impact his stats. Don’t think we were really after him. He was apparently offered to Southampton before agreeing the deal with Hoffenheim.
  9. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still drinking in the Gingerman so. Haven’t been there in ages.

  11. Supposedly we were one of the clubs who approached him. Wouldn’t be surprised if a coaching role is part of the package at PSG.
  12. Villa have released Brave John. Mancs on verge of signing a young Portuguese right back from Porto, Dalot, who has made 7 senior appearances for the club. Fee of €20m (£17.5m). Interesting given they are looking to strengthen their defense and midfield and have been stressing the need for experience. Hint of Bebe perhaps?
  13. No bother. Don’t see it happening at all. Reckon it’s his agent trying to smoke out Real now that PSG have gone for Buffon.
  14. Going for the popular choice I see!
  15. That’s what I get for laying on the cynicism too thick. Actually he’s being linked with us and Madrid. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2018/05/30/liverpool-keen-on-thibaut-courtois-as-chelsea-wrestle-with-reality-of-no-contract-extension/377152/
  16. Used to drink in the Gingerman when he first started doing punditry over here. Saw him in there a few times, with Ronnie Whelan at least once. That’s where I’m laying the blame - he’s taken on Ronnie’s habit of constantly negging Liverpool, only with a little more clue about the modern game.
  17. Naming the best 2 centre backs in the world now is practically impossible. There are no obvious answers.
  18. Well that was quick on the stalking horse front. We’re being linked with 1 year left on his contract but wouldn’t mind a move to be near his Madrid based family Courtois this evening. Wasn’t someone saying they’d take a goalie of Courtois’s ability earlier?
  19. Sturridge only has a year left on his contract I think. I’d imagine we’ll be mainly looking at shifting his wages which are still amongst the highest at the club. Yep - on all counts!!!
  20. Interest is just a place holder though, like I’d imagine we registered an ‘interest’ in Neves and several others before going for Fabinho. That said there has been some talk (in the Echo) that Klopp ‘may’ look for a CF if Brewster goes, or he may look to bring Origi back into the mix. So in that sense looking at relatively cheap options is a possibility. Ayew is also the brother of ‘childhood red’ Andre, who famously offered to play half a season for us without wages before originally signing for Swansea.
  21. That’s my expectation (and hope) too. Am a little concerned that the only attacker we’ve been linked to so far has been Fekir as he’s clearly more of a central option from the clips I’ve seen and doesn’t keep us on the front foot/ opposition penned back to the same extent if one of our usual front three is missing. Think you’re spot on about CF too. Think it was quite telling that a few months ago when we were being linked with Werner, the Pearce denial was swift to point out that the club wasn’t targeting a CF this summer. At the time I thought that was odd but it makes complete sense if we are also after a pacy wide player. I was thinking about this a bit and was wondering why we didn’t notice the shift in the way the team plays the way we have in the last few months if one of the front three is unavailable. The answer was rather simple - Coutinho filled one of the roles.
  22. Spurs been linked to him for about 2 years now. He’d be excellent cover for our wide areas actually (despite his club history), but if he is really negotiating then it’s likely the interest from the other clubs hasn’t firmed up. Speaking of whom... The agent of Liverpool forward Divock Origi revealed that he has held key talks with other clubs over his client potentially leaving Anfield. Simon Bayliff, who represents the 23-year-old attacker, revealed that despite having several discussions with multiple clubs about his client leaving, Jurgen Klopp was yet to make a decision about Origi’s future. The Reds attacker, who has made 77 appearances in total for the Merseyside giants, spent the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Wolfsburg where he scored seven goals in 36 appearances. “The real mistake was that Divock was going to Wolfsburg,” Bayliff, who is the forward’s agent as quoted by Fotospor. “He will be back now, Jürgen (Klopp) will make a decision for him. “But this time he does not want to leave on loan. It’s going to be a pity that the plans are respected. Maybe he will make a choice that will be thought of as a step backwards. “I saw Besiktas. But not only the Tukish side, [clubs in] Spain and England, there are those who want him.” https://live4liverpool.com/2018/05/lfc-news/origi-agent-comments-on-clients-future/ We’ve suppoesedly registered an interest in Jordan Ayew according to some press reports.
  23. Italian press had us linked to Strakosha (Lazio/ Albania) yesterday. We’re getting ongoing mentions regarding Donnarumma (apparently his agent and him are falling out over it as the agent, Raiola, wants him to leave but Donnarumma doesn’t want to) and as Stevie H has said there’s Cillissen being linked today. Can see several more using us as a stalking horse for contract negotiations/ flushing out other clubs in the coming weeks, so expect this list to start growing exponentially the longer it goes unresolved.
