His passing is off but other than that I don't think he's doing too much wrong. He is possibly one of the best attacking headers in world football and needs crosses to thrive on that. Let him get a few goals under his belt and then we'll see what he's made of.

The Newcastle statement puts Owen's statement in context though. Clearly he was told last night that Newcastle would be issuing this statement today so he preempted that by issuing his own statement this morning.
Only the way Real Madrid operate they get a cut of everything the player makes in promotional deals. So it's not just Beckham that gains from him being in various ads, promotions etc - Real get more money too.
I see your points but as Jon has suggested why do they have to display them? They could leave them out back. And besides, pressure could be brought to bare on WH Smith. If people were unable to get any paper for a few days people would ask the question why? I'm fairly sure that WH Smith or whoever the distributor is would not be long in backing down.
I posed the question some time ago why there is not a boycott of shops that stock the rag who's name we shall not mention in Liverpool. At the time I was told there could be something along those lines in the offing. Since then there doesn't seem to have been any movement on that score. With the current publicity that the Rooney thing is getting, would now not be a time to make such a move?
