Bild reporter tweeting that Goretzka has reached an agreement with Bayern, subject to a medical.

The quotes from his agent just look like he’s after a better deal from Arsenal AND a payoff from the Mancs.

Bordeaux manager being asked about Malcolm... ‘I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people. With Malcom, I go from day-to-day. ‘He’s committed. He’s a bit, like he was in the summer…I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions. ‘He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.’ ‘If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go. ‘I’m a coach, I’d like to be able to count on Malcom, Malcom has to help us. ‘There is one person who decides in this, that’s the majority shareholder. ‘He talked about this at the weekend, but football remains football.’

Couldn’t agree more. It’s not even a contest.

2+2=5 but interesting snippet from the Guardian's piece on the Mancs going for Sanchez... Arsène Wenger is keen on signing Malcom from Bordeaux as a direct replacement for Sánchez and has held preliminary talks with his agent this week. The Brazilian forward is understood to have another firm proposal to leave this month, although it is understood not to have come from either United or Tottenham, who have both been linked with the 20-year-old in recent weeks. Bordeaux are demanding a fee of €50m and would prefer to retain him until the end of the season. The situation is complicated by his ownership status, with the French side reported to own only 50% of his economic rights and the remainder held by a number of agents.

A report in Spain saying we have 'an agreement in principle' to sign left back Riza Durmisi from Real Betis in the summer. He's a Danish international.

Schalke pretty much told Bayern to shut up about him last week.

Was some interesting commentary from Schalke on the Meyer link before. He's been on our radar for about 2 or 3 seasons at this stage. I think the summer of the Suarez sale we decided to brief specifically about him and make it clear that he was a player we are taking a close interest in. This was towards the end of the transfer window if I recall correctly but the assumption being that we were lining him up for a future transfer. Fast forward another season and the same story appeared, again close to the end of the window. Then last summer his name was being bandied about at one stage and I think it was the Schalke Director of Football who was quoted. He said something along the lines of himself and Klopp are regularly talking (as they are close friends) and that Klopp had never mentioned Meyer to him, but had been talking to him about another player. My assumption was that he was referring to Goretzka.

Two names to put into the mix for who we potentially could be considering. I should add I’ve seen no recent speculation about either but both were supposed targets for us under Klopp, one of them being included in our initially briefed target shopping list for last summer. Emil Forsberg Timo Werner Both play for our good friends at RBL.

Interesting point from that piece...

Protecting his client's ego mainly I'd say. He probably will get it in the neck in person sooner or later. Our fans are everywhere. Sugary platitudes help reduce the level of anger.
-
I think he wants 2 of the midfield 3 to be Keita and Goretzka. Who goes with them I have no idea but ideally it would be a holding midfielder - however I'm not seeing us being linked with many of those, other than pretty tenuous links to Seri.
-
This is more or less me too - but I'm also a little concerned about whether the money is actually at Klopp's disposal. However my overriding frustration is what this means for the rest of the season.
-
Everyone knows the process of amending that ‘heartfelt’ statement was discussed in the Mail piece right? If he had as much respect as he claimed he’d have waited til the summer. At that point he goes with good grace, now he’s potentially damaged our season.

I think it's 18 months left on his contract too.

Link Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for Daniel Sturridge during the January transfer window, but are reluctant to loan out Danny Ings, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC. Southampton and West Ham United are admirers of Sturridge and they are weighing up moves for the former Chelsea and Manchester City forward. Ings has also attracted loan enquiries from a host of clubs, including West Bromich Albion and Southampton, but Liverpool will not allow both Ings and Sturridge leave this month as Jurgen Klopp does not want to leave himself short of cover in attack in the second half of the season. Sturridge's future at Liverpool has been the subject of speculation for the last 18 months with the England international struggling to nail down a place in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI, having made just five Premier League starts this term. The 28-year-old has not been in the Liverpool squad for the last eight games and he could be tempted to move on in search of regular first-team action to boost his chances of making England's World Cup squad. Ings, who is back to full fitness after two serious knee injuries, appears to have jumped ahead of Sturridge in the pecking order in Klopp's plans having been named on the bench for the last two games.

Getting Murphy and his little Englander rhetoric off everyone's screens would be probably the best thing they've done in ages.
-
In fairness I think he then went on to confirm the €160m figure. This is probably them covering their asses on the '€200m demand' they suggested we made on transfer deadline day back in September.

LFC v The Ev, FA Cup 3rd Round, Friday night, 7.55pm
jimmylibel replied to RP 's topic in Liverpool FC
From the Mirror today... "Mirror Sport understands Madley has included the incident in the report he has submitted to the FA, saying that he did not hear Firmino use the N-word during the exchange between the players. "It is believed Madley has made it clear he would have sent the Liverpool forward off had he heard the N-word." -

7 years and yet it still feels like it was far too recent. -
I can see why it works for Joorabchian though, who is clearly the main beneficiary of that piece.

Eh we were the sellers. We should have sold when it suited us. We had the power to call the shots in a way that best suited us - and didn’t. I can’t believe how crap a decision this all is. Extraordinary incompetence.
-
Couldn’t have put it better. The self congratulatory gall of it.
-
Been confirmed by one of the powers that be at RBL that Barcelona were after him too.

So here’s one then... the other day Klopp was being asked about other players wanting moves and loans in January. His response was that we have to put the club first. So everyone ok with further outgoings this month for the likes of Sturridge, Can, Ward, Karius, etc if they say they want to go?
