Nah, looks like he played us to generate interest from PSG & co. We need to get Barcola over the line.

Probably throwing a corporate strop due to his mate not getting what he wanted. Must have also influenced his decision to move to Saudi.

I think we need someone exactly like Anderson, combative but not in a reckless way, works hard, good on the ball, decent engine with lots of scope to improve. The fee is ridiculous but I can see why City went for him, especially with Rodri seemingly dreaming of Madrid.

Shocking management from Tuchel. Passive rubbish, might be okay against other countries but against Messi, absolutely ridiculous.

Been asking for that, terrible game management

The 3 seems generous

Just how many defenders is Tuchel planning to bring on?

They can't continue to play like this, giving Messi & co all that space and time.

England sitting too deep, giving Argentina alot of time on the ball.

I know there was a lot of speculation re Slot and whether his departure was planned long before it became public knowledge, but all of this makes it look like they were going to keep him. I guess we'll find out a lot in the next few weeks, for those who like to market themselves as the smartest in the room, they aren't looking so bright right now... All that stuff re Edwards team and their stats on Slot and how poor they were, most probably optics for potential future employers, especially if he had already told FSG he was leaving in the Autumn.

This England setup is giving me Slot PTSD, moving the ball so slowly.

Bid rejected

The chicken man has gone with Villa contacting us re Jones... Thankfully no mention of a loan deal!

Thought this was a decent overview: Looks good to me, exactly what we need in the squad. Pacy, tricky, good work rate and has good numbers considering the team were in a relegation fight.

He looked off, must have been close, Konsa playing him on? Wonder why Guehi isn't playing, especially as Croatia are pressing high.

Boooooooo

Agree! He runs and runs, has pace, decent movement (when he's not offside!) and can run the channels. Hopefully the structure of Iraola will get him performing.

He definitely said that! Their probably editing the pod as we type

Yep, no verticality, slow paced u shaped build up doesn't suit him. He's not the type of winger who excels at 1-on-1 situations, he'll do better under Iraola because we'll get the ball forward much quicker and the wide overloads his system relies on imo.

Yep, plus as has been said multiple times, Slots offensive setup was so flawed, it mostly involved getting the ball wide and hoping for the best. There was so little movement, no discernable patterns of play, even if our full backs did overlap they so rarely got the ball. Iraolas set up is completely different, I see it as a positive that Rio was able to achieve what he did playing in such an ineffective setup.

Great interview, humble, charismatic and said all the right things. I already believe!

It might be that a season of watching us under Slot has skewed my view but from everything I have seen and read about Iraola, I feel quite excited, he's humble, comes across well and is clearly obsessed with tactics and his attacking front-foot or structured chaos philosophy. There definitely will be some teething issues, and I am expecting fitness problems initially, but much like with Klopp post that initial period, I think there is a decent chance it could work really well. I think his tactical setup and attention to detail are such that it makes players look better than they actually are, which is another positive. As with everyone else, I am concerned about the step up, a huge increase in the number of games and how our thin squad copes with the intensity required, but hopefully it will be fun, all eyes on Bill & Ben now.
